Re: A nice little score...

It was a cherry. I’ve only encountered 2 in the wild like this. I’ve had ngc not acknowledge one for me that was a obvious Vam 12. I can see how someone might overlook it with a larger submission. The vammer in you will always look, just go with it!!

Re: A nice little score...

Chris, Nice find! Surprising to me the TPG don’t catch these at times. Your VAM 12 example is so obvious. I’ve got an example of a similar find, didn’t notice her striking features until I had her in hand, enjoy. 4D34BA54-D070-48F1-B92A-F7FE88FBF7E7.jpeg 7912C402-4BCC-4CCD-BBB9-44A1C3D1A3FA.jpeg 004...

Re: Crude 1891-O Counterfeit... .950 Silver!

Chris,
MM looks close to Dan Carr’s 1894-O VNA-B. It does look like it’s had some env damage. With a .950 reading I’m in the counterfeit camp.

Re: 1900 Micro O (looks like VAM 5)

Depends entirely on condition. I’ve seen very circulated examples sell for 40-$50. Anything high grade, AU range could be worth 1-2k.

Re: Polished marks

My vote is wheel mark damage. It does seem minor enough that I would try to get it in a holder.

Re: Crackin’ Slabs & Resubmitting Stories

I’ll definitely look into those stories. I love hearing stories of this nature. Just goes to show that some see a tpg holder as the final resting place for a valuable coin but for some it’s just the start. I have quick story to mention. I had a nice 1900-O Vam 15 in an ngc ms64 holder. Always though...

Crackin’ Slabs & Resubmitting Stories

Wanted to here some of the stories out there on Vam’s that were deemed undergraded and had to be resubmitted multiple times to finally get the grade you were looking for.

Nice job Lee!
Always feels good to complete something, especially a tough set like that. Furthermore, 1 less set to get in the way of completing your G clash set!

My First GSA Soft Pack!

Just got this back from NGC. It’s my very first GSA soft pack. Plucked her from the wild. A bit rough on the grade but I’m not complaining. Excited to add this to my 1900-O stash. Nice holder NGC provides for these to keep the original gsa material.

Re: The 3 Micro O VAMs

They are part of the top-100 even after their nixing at the main TPG’s. Highly circulated examples can be had fairly cheaply if you keep your eyes open, even attributed ones. They can be cherry picked on occasion but high grade examples are rare and somewhat expensive. They have a unique story of th...

Re: New 1900-O & O/CC - 4/4?

Lee, I guess I failed to mention to you any additional letter transfers thinking only about the G. I will admit I didn’t see the I transfer with the bag marks, as Leroy mentioned, in that area. Don’t turn too green, you might hulk smash your G clash set :) Bigbub, the 11A is indeed a very LDS. I hav...

Re: New 1900-O & O/CC - 4/4?

I feel the Vam 11A is a little bit of white noise but I’ve been starring at that dang crack/break for too long and I had to have Leroy put my curiousity to rest. The crack-to-break transition has been a tough one for me to figure out and the more I seek wisdom the more I realize it’s a tough one all...

Re: New 1900-O & O/CC - 4/4?

Thanks for the comments guys! The 38D is quite the clasher no doubt. Apologies for my LFCP’s, still haven’t mastered them. Leroy mentioned this possibly being the only listed clash with 3 letters at the neck obverse. Hard to think there isn’t another one, is it true?
