Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings

There’s been some good progress lately, and I’d like to thank JB for his patience with me and prudence in making judicious edits to the set. I’m not sure we’ll ever retire all the redundancies in the listings, but it’s nicer when they’re a little more concise. I have a few more things to pursue, and...

Re: Something feels off in the world today

It's fun to have goals. And heck, I just might even get within striking range of you two in a bit. Heritage just helped me out by selling a MS63 VAM 7A that nobody else seemed interested in, so that will boost my set...

Re: is G.C. taking over?

I must admit that although I've bought from Heritage and find them to be quite reputable, they don't really make their submission process very straightforward so I've never sold through them. It's always been easy to submit to GC. Even selling beat-up, common date silver dollars gets you a decent pe...

Re: 1921P D1 reverse Vam Help please

Yeah, I'm not sure I have a handle on this one yet. I saw Photo 7 and thought of the parallel gouges on VAM 1BQ, but I don't think this is an exact match.

Thank you for your bids, Mike! I hope you like the coins.

It's always nice when I can pick up a few things and click that "trade against consignment proceeds" button at purchase!

Re: 1921P Is this 3EX2?

Each die has a life and a progression, and it's hard for a single set of descriptions to capture all of that. The descriptions listed for a particular VAM often depend on the die state submitted (EDS will show scribbles and doubling and die file lines better, whereas LDS will more often highlight br...

Re: 1921P Is this 3EX2?

That does look like a VAM 3EX2 to me. Don't worry about not seeing the die file line between ON; that's only really plain on EDS 3EX1 examples. Now go find some weird LDS break and make it 3EX3!

Re: Trying to pinpoint my (weakly struck?) 1921 Morgan.

Thanks for posting the additional photos! It still looks like a moderately late die state VAM 3GX to me. The scribbles at the leg and the extensive polishing at the wing which are quite vivid in early die state examples seems to get really flat and muted later on. Even further on, a break develops f...

Thanks for the bump!

I changed the title to reflect some of the ones still for sale in two more upcoming auctions.

That 78P VAM 19 is really quite pretty for the grade - nicer than the photos suggest.
Also, I didn't mention before but I believe the 78P VAM 138 example is the discovery coin.

Re: Trying to pinpoint my (weakly struck?) 1921 Morgan.

Well, if the break is "going in the wrong direction" then maybe I'm mistaking toning for a break, and could indeed use a close-up of any pertinent detail. I like going off of cracks, but any other polishing line or feature will help.

Recognize this pre-1883 clashed Philadelphia reverse?

Fogie contacted me about his perceived congruence between 1883P VAM 38 and one of the VAM 34 dies. So I had to literally dust off my 83Ps and sure enough, I don't think I realized it before but 1883P VAM 38 and VAM 34 die 1 share a reverse die, with the same polishing lines and wing gouge. The VAM 3...

Re: Trying to pinpoint my (weakly struck?) 1921 Morgan.

It's hard to be sure without more detailed pictures, but based on the positioning of that break by the reverse star, I'm thinking this might be a VAM 3GX.

78CC VAM 24A, 85O VAM 17 and various 78P / 83P / 21P on GC

Hi gang, Selling another roll and a half on GC, because it's an easy way to sell and they post decent pictures for your consideration. Not sure why they split up a single submission into multiple auctions like this, but whatever. All starting at low "as suggested by GC" bids. Ending Sunday 3/12: 187...

Received the coin, Rob - thanks! It's a beauty.
I knew I didn't have to ask for pictures from you because you have a great eye.

Thanks for helping me upgrade my 78P set!
