I bought it! Then not available - OT - sort of

Kind of a rant so here goes. I have been on Ebay since 1998 and have bought 100's of items over the years, many being Morgans with no problems whatsoever, hence why I buy on Ebay. Well, the other day I saw a nice 1888-O VAM 1A2 raw attributed which looked like a very high grade and at a reasonable "...

Re: Unicorns Are Real!

Really enjoyed the read Dennis. My discovery 1N3 is in a NGC XF 40 and is attributed as a VAM 1N on holder. It is a VLDS. I also own one in a ICG MS 62 not attributed and is a 1N3 but not a VLDS. The other part of this VAM is the obverse with many cracks and a displaced field break below the date wh...

1897-O VAM 5A Auction Price

Not my coin but was surprised at a non-list VAM bringing this kind of price. Is this VAM on many want lists? Only category I see worth buying it is in the "Thems the breaks" on SSDC specialty set. Might have to start looking for this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324962742981?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBID...

Re: Retained Cud? 1H2 or 1H3?

Thanks for all the answers. I agree with it being 1H2. I assumed that the displacement below the die break which is lower than the base above the break would make it a retained cud and possible 1H3. It is hard to see that in the pics but below the break is lower than above the break.

Retained Cud? 1H2 or 1H3?

Picked this up recently and took a shot at it being the 1921 D VAM 1H3. (not a cherry pick) I think it is a retained cud 1H3 but want to verify here.
What do you think?

Re: Large Vam Collection on Heritage

I was the under bidder on the 1886 P VAM 1C PCGS DMPL 64 but did win the 1889 P VAM 22 Obverse DMPL 63 which I think it was a bargain at that price.
Looks like you had for the most part a great auction sale.

Re: Early Scarface Auction Price

What is amazing is you can go on ebay right now and buy the almost identical PCGS 1888 O VAM 1B Early Die State in MS 63 for $199.00. I just don't get it. (That coin is not mine either)

Early Scarface Auction Price

This was not my coin but I wish it was. An PCGS MS 63 Early Die State went for $3,360 at Heritage Auction last night. These die states are easily attainable at a much lower price. ($100-300 range) The winner will find out one day that it is worth 10% of what he or she paid for it. SMH https://coins....

Mr. VanAllen has passed the torch to three of the most respected VAMmers in the VAM community. This is a great time to be a VAMmer.

Re: 1884 vam-2a

Yes. It looks like an early die state example. The "E" looks well pronounced, since it fades lighter as the die progresses. Plus, any "E" reverse in mint state is or should be a $100 plus VAM.
