Tough call. I don’t see any evidence of grease but I do not remember a broken O hub either.

Re: I stepped up for this 'pick
Such a nice, clear example. And great pictures make a great coin better. I hope one day to have my office back with a better photo setup- someday.

Re: Back from NGC
What a group! Did you have Ngc attribute them or did you do your own? As for the dark side, I have a gsa, soft pack of course, 1922v4, I don’t see too many vams of note in gsa softpacks. They are usually picked over pretty well.

Weak to no reeding is a big indicator of a low pressure/die trial, die setup piece.

Re: Attribution pages
When you say new “wiki”, do you really mean wiki as in Wikipedia wiki? And will it be different than what we have here?

I am still shocked the previous owner did not send this to Leroy. It has been quite some time.

Re: Neat 79p Error... S/T?
I did not say it was a proof! I only saw the denticles and how sharp and deep they were and it made me think of a proof. it is OBVIOUSLY NOT a proof. neither the obverse or reverse is from the proof dies. I think I would know proof dies well enough. I have handled quite a few of them.

Re: Neat 79p Error... S/T?
the denticles made me think proof! I found a 1866 5c 1866/1866 sold as a f-vf. au all day long. weakly struck in center of the shield. yours is weak thoughout the portrait and I am not sure why. reverse is gorgeous. the obverse looks heavily worn--but not.

Some have figured me out. the name is a hybrid of a hamster I had 37 years ago(Hamsterdam). still addicted to VAMs and especially 1879s. and 8tf, and 1921s thornheads, and clashes, and doubled dies, and mislplaced dates, repunched dates, overdates......

Re: 1928-P Super Pick
Try some ammonia on a qtip over some of the black areas. Spin the qtip parallel to the coin surface and see if it pulls it off. And don’t forget to rinse it when you are done. And yeah, great cherrypick.
