A lot of VAMs sold last night, including several bargains IMO. I got the 1878 7TF VAM 166 PCGS VF35 CAC – a variety I feel is perpetually underappreciated for how tough it is. Fantastic buy!

The premiums for these holders, sometimes referred to as "engraved" holders, tend to be gigantic lately... like 10X (or more) the normal price.

Is there a premium value for VAM 10? There has been in the past (50-100%), although I can't even begin to understand why and I'm highly skeptical about it being repeatable. Your old "no-line fatty with gold lettering" holder, however, is scarce, popular, and very likely to continue bringing a nice p...

Seriously, "It's an 8" is all I got.

No premium for the VAM, IMO -- as is the case for nearly all of the 469 different 1921-P VAMs.
But there is likely a modest premium for the rattler holder; those have increased in popularity the last few years.

PL standards have shifted around a LOT over the past 35 years at grading services. Some of the coveted old holders are the most leniently judged coins when it comes to that designation. There are coins in old DMPL holders that are barely PL. The more PL/DMPL coins you see in person, the more abunda...

@RogerRock I know this is an old thread, but by coincidence I recently acquired a PCGS-62 coin that exactly matches your descriptions. It's now off to @messydesk for an attribution sticker.
