Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

The issue is exacerbated by purchasing DETAILS coins knowing they were DETAILS, thinking that they had some value. It is true that some DETAILS coins still sell for good value (see Heritage Auctions 1878s VAM-111), but this is quite an anomaly. My loss of approximately four thousand dollars is more ...

Re: February 2019 SFLN

This might be a record for the most 1878s VAM-59's acquired in a single month. It seems odd that more 58's are not being offered as they are more common than the 59's. Maybe people are starting to value and horde the coins, that would be a sign that the hobby is thriving.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I made a number of inept Morgan purchases from members here and on eBay a few years ago, bought DETAILS coins and paid a few thousand dollars more than they are worth, a good sales price on this coin will help correct the errors made.

Re: February 2019 SFLN

I'm having a degree of difficulty locating more 59's and 62's, and have until the end of February to find them.

We might not see this offered on GreatCollections until next week. Not sure why anybody would want it, as the bonnet is broken.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I could’ve traded and completed my San Francisco Long Nock set, I could’ve been a contender, I could’ve been somebody.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Likely it's twice as rare as either the 1878-s VAM-60 or 1878-s VAM-72, should have traded this for the two of them rather than have it sold at auction.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I figured out they have a pull down menu that shows the pending coins that are cued to be posted, and this VAM-56 is at the top of the list. The holder is adequate, it has not been shipped to PCGS for a regrade nor gone for a CAC sticker. The issue is that I sent two shipments back to back, they pos...

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I sent two 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAMs to Great Collections, neither case was in the best shape, at least one of the coins is gone in for a new case, and at their discretion may send either or both coins in for CAC stickers. I can’t image anybody running an auction house and providing a better service.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Maybe they sent the coin in for a CAC sticker, or more likely they are just keeping busy, I sent Great Collections a few dozen coins to help keep them occupied, too many coins to list all at once.

Re: Picture tutorial?

I've been using the Nikon SB-R200 wireless closeup Speedlight flashes, I have four of these, when I use all four then it seems that all the imperfections on the coin show themselves off in the photograph. If you want your coin to look better, then hit the coin with lighting from fewer directions (by...

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I sent Great Collections a few coins, none of them came up yet. I think Great Collections is a great way for foreign sellers to market their coins to American buyers... many American sellers do not ship to Canada, I imagine many are hesitant to purchase coins being shipped to them from out of Canada...

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Great Collections received the coin a few days ago, it went on a huge journey from the Canadian Prairies to eastern States, then back to California, normally it travels by stage coach, it must of been exciting. A world traveler. I somewhat regret not using it as leverage to get another 1878s VAM-72 ...

1878s VAM-109??? Doubled Motto and Chip Leg

I am wondering about this 1878s, it is similar to VAM-109 but is missing the radical eye-spike.
