stumped by an 1889-P

I've gone through all the doubled ear iterations and still can't come up with a VAM for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Do you think you have a Doubled Die?

So my question is this. Are not both Machine and Die doubling both errors? Neither should appear on the coin correct? Die fatigue in the case of double ears is a case in point. Not all are doubled, some are die fatigue. As some have mentioned they probably should not have been listed. So why is one...

Re: 2021 D question

Should we be glad and/or surprised the Mint didn't do a West Point release too? I'd say thankful. I'm surprised. Would have been nice to see a proof of each come from West Point, an actual mint rather than those iffy privy mint marks so technically we have three P's, an S and a D. So when the 2121 ...

Re: 2021 Peace Dollars

Got 3 and 3 but took nine attempts. Kept getting the "page not found" which is ridiculous considering they went to so much trouble to fix these kind of issues. Anyway, I'm not counting my reptiles before they hatch. We'll see what shows up Oct/Nov.

Striking was all over the board on '21s at all 3 Mints.
now if it had only resulted in more of those pesky filled letters...
Ah, I've not had one like this, only have a few '21s and have only been at this for six months but thanks to all for the info and answers.

VAM on!

Re: Legit 1921-D

Looks fine. What makes you think it's bad? The first two sets of right leaves (or left as you look at it) are very smooth as is the breast, would have thought that would exclude it from grading that high. Though I have little experience in grading and from what I've seen things I think should be gr...

Legit 1921-D

Got this the other day but didn't have my loupe with me to examine it but the PCGS numbers verify it but something about it doesn't ring true. Any thoughts.

1886-P repunched date marks?

Just curious if these are date repunch marks. They just don't all seem to line up with the corresponding number. Otherwise has most of the characteristics of a VAM-30 but still trying to assign it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1879-O mm position opinion

Thanks for your opinions. Even the photo of the mm on the attribution page for the VAM-30 which is shared by the VAM-33 doesn't look too high or turned to the right. Wanted to make sure my eyes weren't looking at it funny. :geek:

1879-O mm position opinion

Just want to get an opinion from more experienced folks here. This coin has all the hallmarks of a VAM-33, line in rev denticles, doubling in all the right places but the mm isn't quite right, pun intended, in my opinion so wanted to see what others thought about how it's set, thanks.

Re: Mint Site Cashed

Ordered two of each but site kept crashing at checkout. Kept refreshing then at one point there was no checkout on the refresh and my bag was empty so I checked my email and it's says the mint got my order but when I check my order number the order history page is down so I don't know what I got. :l...

1921 Peace, cud? Collar Clash? PMD

Novice question here. Can a rim ding cause a cud? Picked this up with a rim ding but the opposite side of it has a what looks like a rim cud or a break directly opposite the "rim ding". There is also what looks like a collar clash along the rim edge at ERICA. What's the chance this was a chip in the...

Thanks messydesk. I did manage to find out a little bit after I'd posted here while searching the internet (on another forum :o ). I know right, there's other forums! . I'd just not come across something like this in my short numismatic career. Kinda cool but can see how a greater degree of ro...

Is there any significance to die rotation? I've see some examples far greater than this but don't find too much about it. Any thoughts?

Re: Do you think you have a Doubled Die?

I see what you mean with the splayed corners on the machine doubling but not sure I see that in this picture where the ON looks layered rather than squashed, also the shafts of sunlight. Then again, good luck finding the corner on the O, From the same coin. Thanks in advance.
