Re: Cannot bid on HA
I just got off the phone with HA, and they told me that I was not the only person that had that experience. The coin I tried to bid on would have been an upgrade for my study set, so I was a little bummed out.. I did win the previous lot, so things were working properly just seconds prior to the pro...

I always appreciate your posts. And when my views or understanding differs from yours (as with every other expert I have encountered in life) I ask myself, "What did I miss?" There have been times when I was the smartest man in the room, but for the most part, I learn more by being the least educate...

Cannot bid on HA
A few minutes ago I was bidding on a coin that I very much wanted for my die study set, on HA's live online auction. As you may know, one has only a few seconds to submit a bid. When I did, I got this screen. And was blocked from bidding. Before I blame HA, I would like a little input from others. T...

I thought I was doing well with my paper investments - getting quarterly dividend checks with no labor input. But now that I see the real money is made in bottles and cans, there will be one more crazy old man pushing a shopping cart through the park.

I believe that History is for us to learn from, not approve to of. With the topic of a coin featuring the Crossing of the Delaware, it might be appreciated by some if I share a related story of a participant -Jocko Graves. https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/graves-jocko-1764-1776/ Jo...

One of the most important features of the ANACS holder is the word "Discovery" and/or the VAM designation. That makes ANACS holders tops in my opinion.

I'm on the phone with ebay at least once a week. Their computer programs leave a lot to be desired. I would not feel qualified to criticize had I not written the programs in the field of Thermodynamics for the state university. I'm long out of date for writing code (I started by punching holes in ca...

Re: Struck Thru Grease?
If you were to line them up in a manner to show the progression of the "feature" you might ask is it getting bigger, or smaller? My understanding is that regular dies do not progress to PL dies, but the other way around. Thus, this feature may be contributed to the use of the die. A result of wear o...

HawkEye
I examined your images and think it cannot be in the planchet or in the washing process.
Ergo, it is most likely in the die.
Is it possible that a chemical caused a faint frosting in places, similar to an acid cleaning?
It may take 10 years but we'll find out.
Thanks for sharing.

If the PMD came from a glancing blow (low angle of incidence,) then you may have the mark above the R, and a dragging of the offender to the left.

Geseas, The explanation is simple. I stumbled across VAMworld a bit over a decade ago. Exceedingly smart, honorable and world class Numismatists helped me get a strart. And as a crazy old man something just fit. For the first time in my life I wanted to focus on one thing and make a difference. Othe...

Re: Arkansas House UNANIMOUSLY Votes to End Sales Tax on Precious Metals
You have to chews the right county in Texas and your taxes will be low . land tax ok , damn school tax 3times higher . Why is a land tax OK? Why should anyone be taxed for something they already own? Do the authorities have the right to assess your coin collection and tax it annually? Not being con...
