FUN Show Travel

Just an heads up. For those traveling by air next week to Orlando for the benchmark FUN show, keep an eye on the news and maybe give yourself a lot of extra airport time before your flights. The TSA walk outs are escalating at the airports during the government shutdown and wait times to proceed to ...

It was the standard reference for Prooflike Morgan Dollars. There were a couple editions, but all essentially the same content.

FUN 2019 Show

The floor plan and table assignments are up at funtopics.com now. Who all in our community has a table?

I am at 210 (Select Rarities), near the front at the left side from the entrance.
I see Brian near the bourse center at 528.

Sold one in DMPL some time back. Looks like there might still be some flash left in your fields, but hard to be sure.

Re: Made my first 21 PL!!

I find it easier to match scribbles by turning it clockwise 90-degrees. The leg feathers present in form like an eagle's head with a big eye. For this one, I like the long die scratch outside the leg feather's and the pair of heavy scribble lines at the far right there. Those should have stuck aroun...

And Larry, make sure you select the grade for each when you register. I will try to adjust them if I have time so you won't have to do permanent deletions and re-register.

Re: SSDC sets

Larry, your login just was not set up because your chosen login user name had a dash in it. The only acceptable characters are numbers, letters, and the underscore. Just create the login without the dash.

Re: SSDC sets

Found the problem. Login names are regular expressions composed of "word characters" (\w in coding). Those are the letters of the alphabet, the numerals, and the underscore (_). The dash in key-dates fails the test. Try keydates, key_dates, or something else. You can set your display name inside to ...

Re: SSDC sets

Larry, you have not created a login at the Registry. You are a member and can do so. The login at VAMworld is completely separate. You should be able to do so on the login page. But you cannot log on until you have an account set up.

I generally augment with Coinfacts, the images available for the specific PCGS number, and Heritage archives , as they attribute every piece.

OT: Shake Up in the Old Guard

Did not see it posted here. Pardon me if I missed it. But PCGS founding director, David Hall, has been dismissed by Collectors' Universe apparently.

Re: The 3 Micro O VAMs

I paid strong money for PCGS (and ANACS) attributed slabs as soon as they announced they were buying them back. Of course the question is whether my strong money was too strong. Figured the reduced population and the fact they remained Top 100 would make them increasingly valuable.

Long Beach?

It is a couple weeks out still, looking to see who might be at the Sept 6-8 show. I am, against all better judgment, setting up again - table 732 (between Northern Nevada and R.A M.). While there is no formal SSDC function, folks generally meet at my table to plan get togethers, post show daily show...

Re: Has anyone seen this Before 1886 O

See if it matches VAM-18 (I think that was the one). The date position more like the VAM-14. There are probably some unlisted pairings too.

Re: 1878-P VAM 9 and 9A: which one is tougher?

This will always generate a controversy, but I had thought the event the stop the production after the first day's cited number, was the clash. Perhaps the 9a was a different day and the dies, were briefly in service to supplement other presses for a production quota. The 9 comes mint state or close ...

Re: 84P, is it LVA Worthy?

I would be astonished if Leroy would list that. Just not enough loss from a die crack. It is also a die state I seem to recall seeing quite a bit. VAM-8 is the far date standard, right? If so, that is the call you'd most likely get.
