Re: Hav'n FUN (Live)
Not only did I get JR's presentation and VAM Thing XVI. I got JR doing me for 5N5. Mike Ferrone(sp?) and I got Ash. The sound on mine and Mike's is a bit garbled due to background noise. I'm hoping to be able to edit and capture the good stuff and remove the junk. I'm burnt to a crisp. It was a HUG...

Re: I don't belong here: 1882-P
It would seem I have become horribly spoiled by what tends to be an abundance of secondary PUP photos in the 1921-P pages, because when I tried to identify an 1882-P today I was immediately frightened. (So MANY with doubled dates... most of which I can't actually see!) But backing away was not an o...

Re: 1923-S Detached Olive - is this listable?
I imagine if it were more detached, with the stem totally missing, it would be listable, but in this case, probably not.

Re: Greetings from FUN!
This sort of event is typically a show highlight for those who attend them. Together with VAM Thing on Friday, this makes FUN a great show to attend, even if only for the fellowship.

Greetings from FUN!
Pete organized a big VAM dinner at a local Italian steakhouse tonight. "Had a great time, wish you were here," and all that. 20190110_211326.jpg I can't really tag people like one would on Facebook, so those present includes, but is not limited to (left to right) lewisr2 , alefzero , vampicker , Mar...

Re: Comments on VAM page
If there is a comment on a VAM page that you know is incorrect, edit page and fix or remove it. I'd rather have a small amount of information I know I can rely on than a lot of information that I have to wonder about.

I can't see anything in the pictures. The clash looks fairly weak at the neck, so probably no letter transfer.

Re: Please Check you 1878 P VAM 14.8 coins
John: What's crazy is, my other 14.8 looks identical to the one I photographed. Well, I imagine a bouncy press isn't isolated to a single coin, and that the likelihood of any given coin being strike doubled as it is struck varies slowly over time. Put another way, if coin n is strike doubled, chanc...

Both. Remember that repunched and strike doubled CC I posted a while back? You have a doubled die and strike doubling. Cool, educational piece, and weird as all get-out to look at.

Re: Old morgan dollars
Lots of spots on the reverse, but I don't see them on the obverse. $370 is not a bad price. Checking CoinFacts, $370 seems like a pretty typical price. Two have sold recently for over $1,000, and they both have CAC stickers. I'm guessing they're really tough on these, but you can see a little spotti...

It does look like there's a triangle in the right place for VAM 6B.

Re: Old morgan dollars
Pictures would help. Sometimes these are nothing, sometimes they're etched into the surface after someone tried removing a black spot. Sometimes they're stains from stuff that was sitting on the coin.

Cool! Of course, it was found 71 years ago by a boy who was born in 1931, but the headline makes it sound like a recent find.

It looks like 2014, since all VAM 18s have the denticle and rim impressions.

Re: Does SSDC Have an Admin Anymore?
Some folks that may want to dial in may have to take a 1/2 day or full day off of work. So if at all possible, can the status of a dial in number or a software link be answered by Thursday? The answer to the phone number availability (or software link) could just be an update to this post or create...
