Re: 1925-P VAM-6A heavy polishing/cleaning
OK, think I'v got it sussed. Found the doubled rays of a VAM-6A which also has polishing lines.

Re: 1925-P VAM-1H heavy polishing/cleaning
First of all, the coin is not a 1H, although is could be a later die state from the same die. My discovery coin does not have the vertical file lines below LL of DOLLAR. Your coin has polished clash marks on eagle's shoulder, but I do not recognize it. The lines on the obverse appear to be due to s...

1925-P VAM-1H heavy polishing/cleaning
I know this is a darkside question but I inherited this 1925-P which looks like a VAM-1H but the clashed spikes have been polished away leaving only a nub at the wing edge and shortening the suns rays. Sadly it also looks as if this coin has been harshly cleaned as there are fine cleaning lines all ...

1899-O VAM?
Having trouble with the 1899-O. Has a high upright mm, slanted date, die scratches around the cotton and leaf, Y shaped die scratch between wing and head of eagle, die scratches inside left leg and outer right and wingtip, doubled W in WE, doubled arrowhead. All should be enough to ID this coin but ...

Great, thanks for the info. Always good to learn new things. I'd just not seen that before and was curious how to describe that.

1921-P VAM-1BJ
What are these smear lines called if anything. I've seen it on a few coins but not like this. I occurs all the way through the motto. I didn't find anything on the attribution page. Just curious.

Trouble placing an 1882-P
Here's another question for the forum. I'm having trouble placing this coin. I can find the chip in the 8 and double 82 of a VAM 9 but nothing about tripled motto. I believe there is also a weak obverse clash and a lovely radial die crack forming. Looks like the A and M is doubled. My coin does not ...

Re: 1901-O die pitting and die clash question.
Great, thanks for the info. Does look like 23-A. I appreciate the help. Love the names you use. There has to be a Jean Claude VAMDAM on here somewhere.

1901-O die pitting and die clash question.
Hi All, as I'm new to this I have a few questions about a 1901-O. It's not in great shape but I noticed a few things that I've got a question about. Is the course area in the 1 of the date is that die pitting or an affectation of ware on the coin or something else entirely. Second is appears to be a...

Re: 1888-O die crack from right wing tip through the top of AMERI
Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind when looking at VAMs. I find die cracks interesting so was using that as a starting point as those were what I was looking for but since you say many are not a key feature unless they are significant I'll keep that in mind and look for more commonly used fe...

1888-O die crack from right wing tip through the top of AMERI
New here and am having trouble finding a VAM that fits this die crack. Any help would be appreciated. Not the best picture but you can see the crack. Cheers.
