Thanks for updating that, Brent!

I think the decimal makes sense. Numeric suffixes are used for stages; with the decimal, it usually means die pair number.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for the education! :)

Re: 1921-P VAM-3P

Thanks for the update and the heads-up! I fixed mine... one 3P.1 and two 3P.2

Why is a decimal point involved? Wouldn't 3P1 and 3P2 be easier?

Re: I finally found one!

Congratulations! 41A continues to be a very difficult coin. :D

I've managed to find two more examples since I started this thread -- an MS63 in a PCGS holder that says "VAM 41" (what a joke; VAM 41 relies upon scribbles to be identified) and an MS61 in a PCGS holder that says "Pitted Reverse".

Re: 1892 S VAM?

PCGS does not attribute all VAMs, only a relative handful... and even then you have to tell them which one it is.

Re: 1892 S VAM?

Have you compared your coin to each of the known 1892-S VAMs on their attribution pages? There aren't very many different VAMs, so looking at each of them is what I'd do.

Soft packs are their own separate GSA collecting universe, and some dates in that packaging are exceedingly rare.

Congrats on your new DC's Dennis. Do you need any help with the new VAM pages?

Setting up new pages would be most appreciated Wayne.
Please note, though, that discovery credit belongs to Brent Fogelberg.

a 1921-P kill and a 2-fer discovery

Received a package from LVA today: – 1921-P VAM 3GO eliminated (a dupe of 3HO). – 1921-P VAM 3HO kept for having a more complete description. New VAMs 120 and 120A (D1 reverse) Discovery 2-fer given (although only a 120A was inspected). Both VAMs do/will have tripling just about everywhere, plus the...

Re: 1921-D VAM-2B PCGS MS65

colwillys is right about generic 21-D prices these days; they've gone totally berserk this year.

2B has been vary rarely sold as a VAM (I've recorded just 4 since 2009), with no discernible VAM premium.
Neat cracks though!

Scarface bidding lunacy

Each morning this year, as I enter previous day’s VAM sales prices into my database collected from various auction sites, the same reaction loudly shouts in my head: “What are you buyers doing!? Do you have even the slightest clue?” What I’m talking about are common VAMs in ho-hum grades that are no...
