Thanks for posting. The 1903-O dimes section is interesting. Some uncharacteristically low mintages for the first few die pairs. I have to wonder if the cause of the dies being condemned so early (6,770 pieces in one case) is visible on the coins, and if the Barber collectors know or care.

OK, that's not a grading service, just an inventory tag for a dealer. Decent looking coin, though. How does it fare on the white paper test for AU58?

Impossible to tell without the discovery coins. The gouge below TRVST is the result of a feed finger scrape that could show up on several dies. No additional pictures of either discovery coin is currently available.

@CascadeChris will be doing attributions there. It'll be a soft launch, accepting coins from the big investors first while they ramp up. First 10 coins graded will be winners of an open essay contest.

Treat the slab as you would a 2x2 that someone wrote the grade on.

Another bit of security to ensure the message received wasn't garbled would have been a checksum word. This would be the last word of the transmission and would be generated by summing the indices of each code word and using the sum as an index for a checksum code word. Probably rarely necessary in ...

I would think that "Coinage Month June" could have been similarly encoded into a single word for extra security and cost reduction.

I would arrange with Fogie to have necessary pieces sent for comparison.

I'd have to see it, but I'd probably revise VAM 2, because if the current VAM 2 listing is inaccurate, it's fixable so that it reflects exactly one die pair.

Topics that come to mind for 1904 include the ramping down of production, especially in New Orleans, and the defective date punch.
