Re: I stepped up for this 'pick

John:
This 53 is nicer than I could have hoped for, buying sight unseen and all. It looks like a bunch of raw coins that got sold as "B.U." that I saw a couple of years ago that someone got royally hosed on. It also cost less than half of what you almost bid.

Thank you!
And it is a 2, rather than a 7.

I stepped up for this 'pick

Just got an 1892-S in PCGS AU53 that... well, AU-anything for that date is expensive. But things get very carried away above that. Seller's pixs didn't show how VERY lustrous the coin is (what a relief!), but they were good enough for me to see this:

Re: 1878 VAM 14.11

Welcome to the mayhem! 14.11 is one of the truly "Wow! You have one of those?!" VAMs. They are seldom offered for sale in any grade and are always expensive. That said, the VAM market has softened a lot since the Great Recession. And as one who helped produce the old VAMview price guides, I would ur...

I'm thinking just a really poor central strike... or maybe a grease issue?

Re: Want List Vams

I have an O/S VAM 4 EDS in PCGS AU50, but those things are crazy scarce and the price would be painful.

email me at westdairy2@aol.com if you're interested.

All I have to compare your coin with is 1921-Ps that have pitting on the face, and in that context yours looks very insignificant.

Re: 1921 P Necklace Varieties by LVA

The crazy thing about this feature is that different D1 reverse 1921-P VAMs come with different numbers of segments – ranging from 5 to 1, and some even have zero!

Lee, you are the one who got this ball rolling and who continues to give it pushes.

Back from LVA: 4 new 1921-P discoveries

All are 1921-P Morgans. The most unusual is a VAM 59 (dot above O in DOLLAR) that doesn't have a dot... hence a classification change has been made: – The old VAM 59 with a dot above O in DOLLAR is now VAM 59A. – The new discovery without a dot above O is now VAM 59. LVA made note of 4 horizontal de...

Problem examples of 7A seem to be the norm. The scratch is the big problem with this one.
I also see it as a 30 details.
