Re: Oh those 1887-S denticle gouges... can't get enough?

As things stand right now, I agree with JR that you have a member of the VAM-8 family. The obverse die of your coin was married to two different reverses. The first use (marriage) of the obverse die did not have the gouges. They showed up on the second reverse die marriage or in between marriages. H...

Re: Oh those 1887-S denticle gouges... can't get enough?

It's not a problem JR. Just wish I had the forethought before I started the work to see forward clearly, so the onus of not being able to share is on me.

Re: Oh those 1887-S denticle gouges... can't get enough?

Thanks for the compliment JR, but at this time, I am not able to share my work. Not out of spite, selfisness or anything. But there could be copyright issues which I am not willing to even remotely come close to violating at this time. Hope everyone understands.

Re: 1900 S Vam 6 of some kind?

It might help to ask questions about coins once you actually have them in hand and can look at them closely, rather than go off of often crappy auction photos. Just a thought.

1896-O V28, New V28A/28B

Leroy seems to be back into production mode. I waited to send these to him for a long while, and coincidence was that it went into the mail just days before his current loss. I-2? Guess I overrated the find. I posted the two photos of mine a long while back, but they are included here since they see...

Re: 1898-OV23 oddity

Could it be that what you are seeing is light bounce off striations on the inside of the holder in the plastic and not on the coin?

Re: SSDC price guide.

Once it is rolled out, will there be a mechanism to suggest changes in pricing for certain VAMs that folks have extensive knowledge of?

Re: In memorial

What a shock. I talked many times at shows with John, and even his wife joined us on occasion. He was a great guy and friendly as heck. I will miss him. I bought a 81-O V1D from him not long ago. RIP Big John Vernieri.

All I can tell you is you have a V44. I will admit that on some coins the scratches are hard to see.

I could tell you had either a V17A or V17B from the first set of photos. The following is a secondary PUP besides the gouges at Liberty's neck tip.

Yeah, V17B. Still looking for a plain V17, but likely doesn't exist.

Looks like a member of the V17 family. How about a clear shot of Liberty's neck tip including the 1st left star and 1 in the date. Then a shot of the A in DOLLAR.

Re: 1902-O vam-17 retry

Not sure why you are having issues posting pics. Can't tell what you are trying to do and why it isn't working. I don't use my hand held for this. I use a laptop. Likely why I can't help. I assume you are trying to upload "jpg" files instead of "tiff" or "png". I think in the past that if I tried to...
