Re: Attribution 101 page question

Stuff like this is the exact reason I prefer the DPIS . For this example, I'd call it LE4RH5 . This is new to me. Could anyone suggest a way for me to learn more about this? (for a simple person) :) Thanks for a great site! * http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6141&p=51376&hilit=dpis...

Re: ….wow….

Does not appear genuine to me. Seems counterfeiters are getting pretty specific. Well done, Mark, JB, Dennis, et all - this is a next generation counterfeit. Imagine once they start making these out of silver. Or even melted down Morgan dollars. Or artificially, giving them the appropriate bag mark...

Re: Silver Dollar 1904 O

"when is a doubled profile a doubled profile?" I've had similar questions concerning date placement - near, far or slanted? And mint mark position and tilt. My education is a work in progress. As for PUP photos to be added to the VAM listing pages, I think Ihnumis1 has provided a few, especially th...

Re: Found a neat way to measure relief with a ping test and spectrograph

I am pursuing this interesting area with the equipment and knowledge I have available to me here, at this time. Disappointing and woefully inadequate so far...I was unable to get the http://friture.org with my OS; which is understandable. I did download two other software apps. courtesy of Google. (...

Re: 1921-D JOH-25 Small Breaks D, S and S

The huge problem is, the 1921-D Die Crack Break Guide is horribly not up to date. Only 77 different VAMs are represented in it, out of the 228 that currently exist. I would like to try and help fix this somehow. Any ideas how I can contribute? I own 3 raw, circulated 1921-D that you folks have seen...

You have that correct. Usually happens on Dennis' 21 photos, and that is real, not a cut. For some reason his photos, sometimes, makes my brain wacko. But he does take great photos.
I remember back when @DHalladay used to take LFCP's. :) They are some of the best.

HI G , not sure if I'm qualified to make that call . I will have to look at your coin tonight, when not tied up . UNCLE BINGO I think I am having a similar experience with the 1921-S thornhead pg. photos that you are having with the 1880-O Vam-2 photos. Please take a look and compare these two well known Thornheads. They are the same Vam and are pictured on the same page in the catalog. I really concentrated o...

I can't put my finger on it, but something about this piece bothers me. I'd suggest matching it to a listed marriage before sending it out. http://www.lsccweb.org/BillBugertBooks/Bugert-Vol-IV-NO-Part2.pdf Wow! That is studied coin. Most interesting thread... an added plus. I gleaned some insight i...

Thank you John and RWB.

...Yes, compared to a coin without a lamination error. I am thinking a lot of a lamination error is hidden; kind of like an iceberg.
