Re: 1904 O Morgan reverse die VAM help

Welcome to VAMworld.
As far as clashing goes, I don’t see any photo evidence of die clashing.
Are you referring to contact marks?

As far as the reverse goes, how would you describe the mint mark location? That is where I would start.

Re: 1879 CC Not listed double CC help

If you look at 79-CCs in the future, don’t be surprised when you see the 2A obverse die chips at the stars along with the jaw die chip of VAM-7.

I’m leaning toward 2A, but can you show me a close up of the obverse from the chin to the point of the bust?

Re: VAM 200 Reverse "V" Center Arrow

PMD IMO I agree with post mint damage. Look at the two different photos with a V mark on the arrowheads. The Vs are in different locations. These are two different coins posted by two different people with Vs in different locations. Both coins are over 100 years old and are not mint state. They pic...

Re: 1895 O

I believe that your photos show that you do have a 3A reverse. I also believe that you can't trust your mm due to PMD (post mint damage). The thing that I wonder about is your obverse date location. It does not look far enough to the right to match VAM-3A. Then again, that may be due to the conditio...

Re: 1895 O

The 3A is not listed for the mm tilted to the right.
Also the mm on the 3A page doesn’t look tilted to the right.

The mm isn’t listed for being high, but it does look high to me. But not by much.

Re: 78S missing a lot hair, is this a V113

No it is not a 113.
Wrong obverse and wrong reverse.
I’m sure one of the 78-S experts can help you pin down this VAM.

One good way to attribute your coin is to show some photos.

I will show you why I say that your mm is high.
The red line is placed on your photo.

Re: 1898-O V15 obv with normal and slight right tilt O mm?

Not sure what VAM you have. I’ll leave that to the experts.
But I will say that the mm photo you posted does show a high mm.
Also, of the VAM options you mentioned, I think VAM-27 can be ruled out due to location.

Re: over polished areas good or bad?

My first thought when someone mentions over polished hair on an 82-O is to look for an O/S. With the lines inside the ear, have you looked at VAM-5 or 46? The same obverse was used for both. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1882-O_VAM-5 http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...

Re: 1921-P First known Example Vam 110.

The two photos I requested, confirms what I first thought. You asked why the photos I requested are important. For 1921-Ps, there are two different types of reverses, D1 and D2. One of your posts points out that VAM-110 is listed as a D2 reverse. Now look at the two photos that I requested. I think ...
