My Turkey Week Pick

Maybe my pick of the year but was happy to cherry pick one of these in mint state. Thinking ms 61/62ish? Like to here other opinions on grade. Either way it is going on my next ANACS grading trip.

Re: Big Heritage VAM Auction 10/15

I won one of the 79-O VAM 28's. Never thought I could afford one of these. Not too long ago this VAM was double the price for what I paid for it.

Re: just won this 80 p

The 1878 P VAM 84A has very faint if any cap clashing.
I have a 1884 O VAM 30A that has cap clashing but no "E". It is a phantom "E" for sure. Maybe the early clashing die state might be visible for the "E" reverse. ;)

Re: OT: "why" question about $50 Pan-Pac octagonals

If I remember correctly, the octagon shape of the 1915 Pan Pac was said to emulate the Kellogg & Co. gold octagon slugs made in the 19th century that was not considered legal tender. The 19th century slugs made by Kellogg had a reeded edge as well. Not sure if that answers the question or not.

Re: 1880 P Reverse "E"

Looks like VAM 35A early die state maybe. Buffed obverse. With no other clashing, the possibility that it is a clashed E is highly unlikely. I would call it a phantom "E".

Re: The Progressive Farmer - July 10, 1894

This column was a national syndicate column that appeared in many of the U.S. newspapers during that year. I just chose the first one I came upon.
I find it amazing how much counterfeiting was going on in the late 19th century and beginning of the 20th century by reading these stories.

The Progressive Farmer - July 10, 1894

I've been reading old newspaper articles on counterfeit dollars and this one pops up. You may have to copy link and paste. For some reason I cannot get it to link through VAMworld. Look for the headline to the top right that reads "counterfeiting coins" Just a cool read. Enjoy. https://chroniclingam...

Re: 5000th VAM Var. added to registry!!!!

That's awesome!
While everyone is adding their request to the registry, I'll add mine. :D
Could you please add 1902-O VAM 45 Die 10 to the Broken Mintmark Set. I have included a pic of the broken mintmark with the coin I have registered.
THANK YOU for all you do!
