Re: 1921-P Morgan VAM-3CM

I've seen many machine doubled reverses, but I think these are the only obverse MDs I've seen.

It it interesting, though, that the same VAM is doubled in approximately the same way. That would imply an improper set up with multiple copies of almost the same doubling being struck.

1921-P Morgan VAM-3CM

I have this 1921-P VAM-3CM with what I assumed to be machine doubling on the nose, lips, and chin. WIN_20190408_14_05_21_Pro.jpg Then I got this other one. WIN_20190408_14_06_06_Pro.jpg The eye shows doubling as well. WIN_20190408_14_08_01_Pro.jpg And the full-sized photos on the page shows somethin...

Great example, thanks.

Amazing that you can see the wood fiber impressions in the struck-through area.

Interesting.

What is the source of wood chips/sawdust in the minting process?

Re: 21-P 3DA

I can see a slight difference in reflectivity along the portion of the break near the denticles, but it I cannot get a decent photo.

Maybe it is a 1.5!

Is yours a 1 or 2?
I'm not very good with "displaced fields" but I think it might be a 2.

Re: 21-P 3DA

Right. I guess if one makes many millions of anything you have to expect variation to creep in.

I suspect the mint never expected anyone to look that closely!

21-P 3DA

So I was looking at a 21-P VAM-3DA and couldn't find the dot. The page shows a photo with the dot below the "P" in Pluribus and I couldn't find any dot there.

I wandered over to the 21-P "Dots" page and printed there was the hint: "Dot Over P (in denticles)".

And it was on the coin too.

1921-P 3C2

Any thoughts on this 1921-P VAM-3C2? It has what appears to be a concave area at the left wing tip, removing the crack that runs from "A" to the denticles. Planchet flaw? Strike through? A piece broken out? WIN_20190306_15_44_59_Pro.jpg WIN_20190313_15_05_51_Pro.jpg WIN_20190313_15_06_54_Pro.jpg

I have an LDS of the 1L series (1L3 I assume).

It shows the break at "M".

21-P VAM-28 Dot?

Does the 21-P VAM-28 have a dot in the "v" part of the M in America?

I have a couple of examples that show this dot.

The full coin reverse photos on the VAM page appear to show one as well.

Too small to mention?

They are hard coded in or a template can be used. Not to try and highjack the thread but, if anyone has a complete list or one as close as possible for die's used for each year and each mint we find a spot for it here on VAMWorld. I can extract the entries on each year page that would include Year,...
