Re: 1921-P VAM 26 vs 26A question
Well stated Tom. Are theses listed areas caused by the same mechanism as feed finger gouges? Dennis, if you send LVA the 26, 26A and your coin, what would you like to see happen? John B what would you like to see happen? I know LVA has the final word about this, but as senior VAMMERS and as a VAM co...

Re: First buffed reverse?
I did not have any pictures showing the raised metal bumps below tail feathers but not sure the bumps determine if the coin is a 1C3 stage.

I don’t have access to the 1C3. Will look at pictures to see what I have around tail feathers.

Re: Die State
Ant, I was attempting to show at least knowing that the 16 obv was later than the 1C1 obv, similar to the 1C2-1C3-1J obverse progression. I have non-clashed PCGS 62DMPL and single clashed NGC 63PL 1C1's. From the photos I have the clashed version has a great deal of polishing going on the Reverse. W...

Re: Die State
I should have said "earlier" Die State rather than "early" Die State
Coin on left is VAM 16
Coin on right is VAM 1C1. It is in my photo file of the non-clashed 1C1's but I can't access the coin at this time to determine if it truly is the non-clashed version.

Die State
Same obverse different VAM.
Which one is the early Die State?

Re: 1883 O VAM 1C1 or 1C2?
Not sure Dave. I have to access the photos on another system for the VAM 16 to confirm if its Obverse came before or after the 1C1. The photos I have now point to after.
This does not make any sense on why heavy clashes are not seen on either the 1J or 16 obverse if they are later die states.

Re: 1883 O VAM 1C1 or 1C2?
Mitch I do not have any notes nor do I recall seeing a single clashed 1C2 and don’t have access to my coins at this time. The VAM 1J appears to me to be the later die state of the obverse used in 1C2. I have only found the 1J with a single weak clash. 24185B5A-E847-44CF-8D98-89EB0C8A40ED.jpeg 538D4E...

Nothing that I considered an m. The metal is pretty wavy, I could probably see a squirrel or any other thing if I chose to call it that.

Re: 1883 O VAM 1C1 or 1C2?
VAM 16 shares 1C1 Obverse and VAM 1J shares the 1C2 Obverse. The 1J share is very difficult to see but the pups are there if you look close enough.

Re: Die Stage versus Die State from VW10 Board by VAMPICKER
All I know is that there is a first time a die/die pair is used and a last time a die/pair is used. Time is a sequential thing so when you describe something that has happened to a die it is somewhere on that time line from beginning to end. Truly understanding where on that time line an event takes...

Re: 1883 O VAM 1C1 or 1C2?
If it has the clashed m it would be a 1C2. I don’t recall seeing the m on a single clashed specimen.

Just to be clear, is EDS early die stage or state? I always thought state.

Re: 1883-O PGGS MS63 VAM-1C1 NAOH
I don't sell so have not anything to base my opinion on. I think there is some moderate interest in these but like many VAMs that are not widely sought out, I think there is just a small premium over grey sheet unless you get into a TOP pop position and there is more than one person interested in it...

Re: In need of 83-O expert... New pair?
Sorry, Haven't been coming to site as much and can't access any coins to compare with yours anytime soon, but the obverse pups match my photos of VAM-38(ear, RTY, little flower growing out of cotton boll( Nate taught me that one)). Take a clean picture of the gap between eagle's neck and eagle's lef...

Re: Cellphone pics
You can take great pictures with a phone but just like a camera you have to practice with lighting type, lighting angles, magnification and camera angle. I am not a professional but a friend of mine is and is amazed at what I sometimes can do with my phone and an eye piece. I was using the original ...
