Interesting. It does have the same reverse markers, no letter transfer.

What are the chances?
Either another VAMmer sold their collection or these two happened to stay together in a bag & then a roll for nearly 100 years.

Re: 1883 O VAM help
Dave, I think someone posted about this one a few weeks ago with the incuse stuff by the eye and on forehead. Not sure if it is grease or something else but all mine have it. Also minor feed finger polish above s and f. I do not plan to send it in so I am calling it VAM 1. 594E2907-4307-402D-8781-37...

Re: Calling all 1897-S Gurus or Partial Gurus
Looked like my VAM 6, but the crack off the star is different. Just noticed that 3 of the 4 I have, are cracked off the neck point. None match yours though.

Here is an overlay of an 83-O that shows what I think the alignment is based on clashes.

Re: Clash of what?
Brian, a well placed hit where not letters would be on this one. Although I could not find it yesterday this is a 87-0 VAM 35. I am working on some overlays just so I can understand the clashes in the future, but there are no letters where they could exist.

Re: 1883-O VAM-1 ? Listed?
Only that there is also one on the nose at bottom level of eye that is not as distinct. Not sure what these are caused by. Also a long threadlike scratch through bottom of Y in Liberty similar to what is seen in 82-O VAM 14. Same worker?

Re: 1883-O VAM-1 ? Listed?
Loren, The picture you have shown "1883-O VNC-1 OD2/RD2 TF730480a (VNA-11)" I do not know if it is has been sent in. I currently have it as VAM-1, It could fit VAM 28 doubled 3, but as I disucssed previously this is seen across all 83 series, it could fit into a doubled 1 category at top right of sh...

Here is what the reverse looks like and what JB described. A little cotton boll stems also. Nothing any where else sad to say.

Re: 1883-O VAM-1 ? Listed?
Yes the coin that Nate Sent in with a diagonal gouge right to left from the right side upright in T to the left of center lower crossbar was sent back to him as a VAM 1. There can be multiple die that can be considered VAM 1. It appears that all the 83 series had an issue with the 3, which looks to ...

Re: restore or delete
I am about sick of this BS. For all those attacking John, who gave you permission to make composites of other people’s photo work, and put text over the images or modify others images? You seem ok with making changes to other folks work, yet complain that your work, some of which really is other peo...

Re: Mega Feeder Finger Scrape OR Planchet Issue OR??
Would it be most likely impurities in the planchet metal, something having to do with rollers or something having to do with the bath for planchets?
