Re: Bags and rolls. Chain of events post punching.

Paper coin rolls weren't starting to be used until the 1920s/30s and weren't being unbuquitously used until around the treasury releases of the 50s/60s when dealers would buy treasury bags and use paper rolls to break them up and sell them in 20 coin lots.

Re: 1921-P VAM-32A Rectangles at Base of Denticular Clefts?

This is a pretty common feature fwiw.. When I was green I sent a new die pair in to the big guy and mentioned this feature in my write up as also having a possible collar clash. In his return letter he called it, and im paraphrasing here, "a striking error, which is not listable."

Re: 1900-O VAM 23F Discovery Coin

Whenever I see a "modern" listing that doesn't have a discoverer mentioned and only a "Discovered in 20xx" subheading I assume it was probably a @vamsterdam discovery. Of course that's not always the case but it is an unusually high possibility.

Re: Newp... A Morgan in a GIGANTIC Slab

Thanks JB, I can always count on your for little obscure nuggets of info that directly relate to an issue. Yeah, these mega slabs are neat but kitch. Its cool to own one for the neat factor but multiples would just be a hassle and a safe space killer..

Newp... A Morgan in a GIGANTIC Slab

I've owned a couple of the 2005 1oz gold & 1oz silvers but I have yet to own one of the 5oz silvers, until now. And this is probably the largest slab I've owned too. Anyone down to play a cool game of Frisbee after our next VAM dinner? 😎 20200822_085350.jpg 20200822_084836.jpg 20200822_084845....

Re: O/T... Newp... Lincoln Bronze Plaque by VDB!

If we ever get back to the major show circuit in any semblance of normalcy, stop by Paul Cunningham's table. He wrote 'the book' on Lincoln material and my have one or two of these in one of his cases at any given time. Good to know. Thanks JR. This one will most likely be sold or traded away by th...

Re: O/T... Newp... Lincoln Bronze Plaque by VDB!

@pete$298 saw that one. While the back does look similar, like maybe mine is the same as that one but mine is missing the back bronze plate, mine does have indentations on the corners and sides exactly where that one has screws but my indentations don't have threaded holes for screws. πŸ€”πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

If only you were friends with someone who could use it like a galvano
I think he has one. Pretty sure he's the reason I knew what this was the instant I saw it. Been meaning to shoot him an email to see if I'm remembering that correctly and also to see if he knows any more about them.

Re: O/T... Newp... Lincoln Bronze Plaque by VDB!

Nice pickup! How thick is it? It looks like it got a little banged up on the top and right edges. Would it take to being mounted and hung from a wall? A table-top stand would also work I guess. I dont have it at hand but its about 1/4" thick. And yes, it does have a small planchet crack (lol) at to...

O/T... Newp... Lincoln Bronze Plaque by VDB!

Thoguht I'd share a pretty cool recent acquisition. There seems to be a few different styles or separate castings from original moulds (kind of like old master plate engravings I guess?) so aside it being an inventory buy I got it to study so I know the ins & outs of them if/when one crosses my path...

Re: How Rare Are These...

This isnt quite an answer to your question but whenever threads pop up about the silver contemps I like to share Dan Carr's public educational info pages on these as he's a huge collector of them. Very informative. For anyone reading this that hasn't seen this link before check it out. Start with pa...
