Are we sure that's not just a post strike kinda uggo surface?
I dont think so. The shiny areas go right up to the edge of the devices where they cross with no gap at all. Sure looks "as struck" under a loupe. Pics suck. A video would probably show whatever it is much better.

Re: restore or delete

Clear something up for me. If all of mitch's photos, which work for now even if the resolution isn't to his standards are removed, we will be missing a ton of photos that can still help people attribute their coins creating many Zombie or near zombie pages?

Van Allen will almost certainly pass on giving any opinion on a dollar in that grade
I realize it's not exactly AU... But it's too worn for him to even look at? :(
Yes. Find another in higher grade. Dont waste his and your time on a coin that worn.

Re: Mega Feeder Finger Scrape OR Planchet Issue OR??

Would it be most likely impurities in the planchet metal, something having to do with rollers or something having to do with the bath for planchets? I'm not sure, I haven't seen anything present quite like it before. It's only on the reverse which would limit but not eliminate the probability of me...

Re: Mega Feeder Finger Scrape OR Planchet Issue OR??

Not a feed finger scrape. It goes right through the devices. It's in the planchet. True but it looks so much like one, with how "shiny" the streaks are. Doesn't look like an improper mix, at least it doesn't present like any I've seen. Perhaps a planchet wash/rinse issue? She's an 85o in a PC 62 ho...

Mega Feeder Finger Scrape OR Planchet Issue OR??

Re: 87p v13A... Eagles beak transfer to obverse?

Just a comment from an old school guy. Some will take this the wrong way, some won't. It is not intended to offend anyone but is just MHO. This type of thing is not listed by Leroy. Thus this type of "list" with this type of feature does not help new VAMmers in education. It may help for a quicker ...

Re: 87p v13A... Eagles beak transfer to obverse?

That list, similar to the 21 "feeder fingers" list is woefully wanting. Although the FF list does seem to be more effective. Many times I've come across a bearded eagle, went there to check first for an easy attribution only for it not to be on the list..

You guys are hilarious! Thanks for the info. I was really just wanting to clarify that the U break is the only difference. Thanks! :)

Re: CAC sticker

I have submitting privileges but Yokel is correct. CAC only stickers PCGS & NGC. So many people want them to start stickering ANACS holder though, especially the small white "Hotel-Soap" slabs, but ANACS is a no-go currently.

Chris, if you are excited about an eagle beak transfer, wait until you find a double one (double clash).

Re: 87p v13A... Eagles beak transfer to obverse?

The VAM-13 was studied 10 years ago. I did an article about the die progression of the VAM-13 and it is repeated in a VAMView back when. It includes the eagle beak transfer. Here is a link to the VAM-13 page if anyone is interested. Look at Comment 2. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazo...

Any 78-CC with truly DMPL surfaces is a prize.
Hmm, didn't know that. Is that statement a personal bias or does 78cc lack deep mirrors in general?

Re: 87p v13A... Eagles beak transfer to obverse?

I didn't know the Eagle's head clash transferred on any genuine US Mint morgans. When I saw it on my 13A it was a wow moment for sure. I'll have to check every bearded eagle I come across now.

Very good idea on creating an "Eagle's Head Clash" SSDC registry set! @fogie can get it going!

BTW, any E that might result from a G clash or near miss would land under TF6.

In cases like this, some people just use a sharpie to X-out the "A" and write a "B" on the slab next to the "A"

Re: 87p v13A... Eagles beak transfer to obverse?

Thanks JR. Ray, it is possible. Aside this, and Dan's 64D clashed dies where he intentionally clashed them incredibly hard, he then clashed them once more and struck 4 as a finally, of which I own one. Also, think of the "Talon-head" clash on the 71 P&D Ikes.. That's the clash that changed my thinki...
