Die alignment? I, II, III or IV?
Coin alignment, not the medal alignment one unfortunately.

Re: O/T.. oh, this just happed too! (((DROOL ALERT)))

sorry we missed each other at the show. would have loved to have played with this one, although I have seen quite a few, but none were raw in this grade where I could study it slowly and carefully. found some great vams at the show but this would have been a treat to hold and examine awhile. Yeah, ...

Re: delete please

As I recall, the main reason for decreasing the file/image size was to support cell phones. And to assure performance on the bourse. In addition to Mitch's photographs being degraded, the Heritage Auction photographs are not as helpful as they once were. Perhaps the checksums changed. 5G is around ...

Re: delete please

Mitch. Thats a crap ton of pics bro. They work fine, at least for now. Removing all of that content will neuter VAM World and make it next to, or fully impossible for newbies, casual users, almost anyone, everyone to effectively attribute many VAMs. Dude. Seriously?

Re: delete please

How about this, we keep the pics up because they are perfectly fine for the needs of helping to attribute coins. Problem solved. Pretty selfish to want to remove so many perfectly good pics and force people to go to another site to have to use them. That has zero chance of working out well. Do you r...

Re: Need help with 1921-D Labeling Question

One of the issues here is that the letter suffixes aren't meant to indicate die stages in many cases, most obviously 1921 Morgans and 1922 Peace dollars. They indicate specific dies. I use an "EDS" or text stating something like "early die stage without break" on various VAMs that fit the bill, bec...

Couple of neat Peace TONERS for the Darksiders...

Thought these were pretty neat with decent color for a Peace and toned Peace's with color similar to these do go for somewhat stupid money on social media. How could I say no? Especially for a textile! 20190414_210359.jpg 20190414_210410.jpg 20190414_210426.jpg 20190414_210439.jpg 20190414_210450.jpg

A couple more obligatory pre-plastic pics, since, ya know, it goes without saying that I have to play with this monster as much as vammingly possible while I have her. Not seeing much of anything of interest in terms of what we all like... aside some pretty darn cool date doubling! Just booked her h...

Re: 80 O Loaded w/features

I'm not a fan of Ron's photography style either, they're flat and don't show much detail well due to lack of shadowing... but he does what he can and for listings that are lacking they are much better than NO PHOTOS. Can we please not spew bullshit publicly here anymore, or at least leave any and al...

Those eagle feathers are Beautiful..! Is that where they got the design for the flying chicken cent for 1857/8?.. I know there was a 1856, but it wasn't legally commissioned and is considered a pattern... So that's where the design was lifted from  The more you learn! Yup. Longacre used it t...

Ooh! Aah! Why is that not in a holder? Even with problems, that's a big coin. Came from a very trusted dealer who just bought a very fresh, old estate lot of big early type, all raw. Some glorious stuff. I've heard of old time collectors with mega stuff they never sent in once the TPG era took hold...

Re: New top-pop for my other baby!.. VAM 106

Nice! I have a feeling a 67 in one of the 3 is not too far behind. :D Hopfully.. this one would be a 7 if not for the minor but noticable scuff behind the cap. Its not technically in the focal area and it is shallow but the light does bounce off of it making it a minor overall distraction preventin...

Best "Sunday" I've had at a show, ever! :P

New top-pop for my other baby!.. VAM 106

Almost missed this. It can be very good sometimes to not miss the Sunday mornings at shows when only a handful of dealers are left for a final sweep  Its the v106 (earlier mating than the v107 paired reverse) and I think it's the earliest die state I've seen yet. Still looking for this obve...

To be clear, that feature by the reverse star is still noteworthy as it is not seen on most dies. But understand it is not unique to one die.
Figured. Good stuff. I'll change the title to more reflect that this is a thread about the star mark for anyone searching the forum in the future.
