1878 VAM 167 (NAOH); toned NGC AU 58 top 30; 2nd finest in SSDC registry

Will consider offers for evenly 2-sided toned AU 58 V167 in mainly warm tans and oranges with a little blue. Currently, only one unc. in the SSDC registry (MS 61); this is the sole 2nd place coin in AU 58. There are a few that grade AU 55. One of the tougher B2c reverse coins and part of the 1878 7t...

Re: Elusive 1878 C reverses

The C set is tough and often the makers are subtle. Good job on the 228.5! Glad to see there is another 78-P nut out there!

Re: TRY FINDING ONE IN WILD UNCLEANED THAT WILL GRADE TOUGH Bird

Mine is ANACS AU 55 PL; caught raw and wild a couple of years ago. Still on the hunt for an unc. Several C reverse 78-Ps are very tough in unc.

Re: nice vam 186 B

Actually 186B is probably the most common B2c reverse (broken r), and available in uncirculated, including higher grades. 186A is the rare bird, and real scarce in uncirculated grades, with just a single MS 64 in the SSDC registry, and only a dozen. V186 plain is somewhat scarce, and rare above MS 6...

Re: WTB: 1878p 7TF Proof

Ebay occasionally has one or two as the prior posts show; I'd keep tabs on the major auction sites; seem to be a collective few per year come up, but the added juice can add to the cost. Good luck! Neat variety and unmistakable unique reverse.

Re: What's the difference between 1878 8tf V22B & C?

I suspect V22B & V22C are one and the same; albeit the V22 series die cracking is progressive, so I was hoping there was an a-ha difference between the 22B & 22C, but none in this thread. I have but a sole V22A & 22B in my set. I suspect the squirrel obv. die crack was seen as not VAM worthy, but ma...

Re: what does restoration cost at PCGS?

I had a disaster; PCGS MS64 PL 1878 REV. 79 became a net graded unc. details Environmental damage disaster, which I lost money on. To make matters worse, the person I had to deal with says the coin wasn't touched (it was), just re-holdered. So, I took a loss with the settlement offer.

Re: What's the difference between 1878 8tf V22B & C?

No, I did not buy the V22C. But I am looking for what differentiates the B form the C. If you look at the photo for the V22B, it has die breaks as the LVA plate coin shows. I know the C has t be near terminal, but don't know what die state is a C. It would be nice if a photo was added or someone pos...

What's the difference between 1878 8tf V22B & C?

V22C discovered 2017; I don't recall any fanfare when the new suffix was assigned. No photo on the V22C page; can't really tell from description how it differs from photo of V22B. I guess the cracking is more further advanced as the die neared end of life, but can't figure out what the dividing line...

Oh, yeah. My EDS is un-clashed. Extra metal was referred to as "polish shadows" but was never real sure what that means.
