Re: Forrest Fenn Treasure FOUND...

so who will be the first to slab the gold coins? PCGS OR NGC Some are already in PCGS rattlers. It looks like most of the gold is in the form of nuggets, and we're not talking about a large number of coins. I'm sure if the finder comes forward, most likely through a dealer, the TPGs will be ready w...

The vam 25
Has at least 4 die stages...
So how does the foggy outline around the 7 that looks like it could have been a 6 develop over these stages?

Not to be. You have to have the full die break.

The links to 1921 Peace Dollars on Elite 30 page does not link to proper page, they link to Morgan Dollars instead.
Fixed. Thanks for pointing this out.

Re: Press feeder/ejector gouges - Are these counted as VAM varieties?

I've noticed press feeder/ejector gouges in several posts along with the suggestion they are integral to distinct VAM varieties. Is that correct? If so, how does a mechanical problem with a press become a "die variety?" Just curious. Thanks for your patience! They are considered to be die gouges if...

Re: Couple of questions regarding 1922 D peace Part 1

As dies wear, the design on one side is slowly transferred through the planchet to the other side because of the way the metal flows during striking and the fact that the metal flow shows up in the dies over time. Many types show this kind of "ghosting" when there is a major design element opposite ...

New BST Rule

I have updated the forum rules to include, "All offers to sell must include a price." It need not be a firm price, but there needs to be one. Not having a price discourages people from making offers on coins, and makes any transaction less efficient for both buyer and seller, as the buyer has to ask...

100% scam, and a rather long-running one. Return it. The wrappers are modern.

Chris,
Maybe we will get lucky and one of the Pros will answer your question better than I.

JR @vampicker
Short answer is that people who want clashes want the 53A. People who know better want the 53. Sort of like the 78 VAM 14.1 situation.

There are no die variety guides published for these, and the few varieties that are collected are the Red book varieties. A normal date and mint set could be added, but nobody has requested it.

Re: The Big Reveal!

That's a great piece of news. I have to wonder if this is a platform that will continue. It would open a door for students and possible instructors that aren't able to take a week or so to travel to Colorado. This is a pilot program, with several 2-hour and several 1-hour sessions available chosen ...
