Re: PM option for attaching pics

Attachments are currently disallowed in PMs to keep the size of the database holding PMs from expanding too much, and to encourage people to post their images to the main board. If there is really a need to send images in PMs rather than personal e-mails or posting in public, I can enable 1 image pe...

Re: Proposed New VAM Page Listing Format. Vote in the poll below.

I noticed that any of these "lists" a VAM may appear on is already in the description / title for each below. In fact, it's more complete because the table shown only includes the first "list" it may appear on. (Notice VAM-1A is a Wow! VAM as well as TOP 100.) So maybe this table of "Listed VAMs" i...

Re: Proposed New VAM Page Listing Format. Vote in the poll below.

Any use of the R-value beyond Leroy's initial guess in the VAM specification will be removed. Too often, too many people put too much stock in that number. It does not usually reflect rarity accurately, and it has been abused in the past as an indicator of value.

Re: Proposed New VAM Page Listing Format. Vote in the poll below.

The term "key" has different connotations here. Usually, it refers to the rarest, most expensive coin for a set. That's not necessarily the case with the "list" VAMs, such as 91-CC VAM 3, 87 VAM 12, and others, which is why I hesitate using the term "key" here.

Re: Proposed New VAM Page Listing Format. Vote in the poll below.

I may be missing something here, but I thought someone mentioned a box in the upper right corner for Year/mm Stats (JB I think?). It looked like a good solution and compromise to me at the time. I have a template defined for the "vital stats" already. You can see it on the 78-CC page. If you look a...

Re: Proposed New VAM Page Listing Format. Vote in the poll below.

And now the VAM listings are a full screen of scrolling away from the top of the page. This was one of the things that people didn't want. I like the concept of having key VAMs of some sort shown somehow, but not where they are.

The two on the left are better than the two on the right
I actually have the bottom right as being the best, by virtue of the detail in the braid, but the scratch on the jaw is a little off-putting.

Also included were 2 original rolls of MS 83-O's.. look to be 2 different VAMs in them.
1 roll = 61-62, the other roll, 63-64... for $25 each.. :D
2 VAMs per roll sounds about right for an "original" roll, by which I mean a roll made from coins bought from the Treasury in the 60s.

I'm at 70 coins as of today. I know a few more are in the mail on the way to me, but there'll still be room for more.

Re: Need help with 1885 S please :)

The obverse looks like a match based on the lines between the cotton and wheat leaves (I can't tell from the date), but the reverse looks to have a different mint mark position than what is specified. The Morgan Red Book indicates 20 die pairs used for 85-S, so it's plausible that there are differen...

Yes, VAM 5B. Date position and die chip are all that's needed for this one. It's nice when the attributions are easy.
