That peak was during the Central States show that year. I remember unloading a roll of AU 21 Morgans for $800 -- one of the few times I had really good timing. There are people who lost 10% during their flights home after the show.

Re: IN NEED OF DIRECTION
... There's lots and lots of money out there for the Morgan collecting market, and young people *love* to collect things . I'm the generation that grew up collecting MTG cards, the last era of baseball cards, hotwheels, video games, etc... We just need to get them interested in collecting Morgans (...

Re: 1881p Morgan Vam question
What makes a date popular is someone deciding they want to study it closely. It typically involves a lot of time, coins, mistakes, and packages to Leroy, but you are guaranteed to learn a lot.

Re: 1881p Morgan Vam question
Based on what I've seen on 1881-O, I would say that it is. I don't have the VAM book in front of me, but I think VAM 14 shows it, as well.CascadeChris wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 3:13 pmThat 1 is a pretty sick evil mimic PUP to the v8. Wonder if its on multiple 81p's?

Re: 1881p Morgan Vam question
It's going to be one of the "Doubled 18-1" VAMs. Not sure which. 1881 isn't a high-profile date that's been studied much.

Several years ago, I spent considerable effort in trying to grasp Creative Commons licensing within the context of copyright. I devised the following scenario as a way to help remember what I thought I may have learned. Please speculate whether this scenario reflects the spirit of the Creative Comm...

The LVA plate photographs and the Heritage Auction photographs, by virtue of being on VW20 take on the CC license provisions? Original HA photographs could be displayed on another site on the heels of matching "thumbnails" on VW20? Are LVA and HA aware of usage provisions provided by the Creative C...

Woof. High profile coin, so I'm hopeful it will be recovered. Sure the insurance will cover it, but I'm fairly certain all parties in this transaction would rather see the coin than an insurance payout.

I have read the licensing clauses pertaining to thumbnails and cache, but it was a few years ago. What is quoted above is immensely important to me. I don't recall a discussion of "someone must realize" in regard to a linked thumbnail. Would you please provide a citation/link for the thumbnail, cac...

Re: delete please
Several points I'm going to address here. Two reasons for downscaling images were space and performance. We were way over the limit on VW 1.0, and we are charged for space used (among other variables) on VW 2.0. At the time VW 2.0 was created, it wasn't clear what the storage costs would add up to. ...

Re: Need help with 1921-D Labeling Question
One of the issues here is that the letter suffixes aren't meant to indicate die stages in many cases, most obviously 1921 Morgans and 1922 Peace dollars. They indicate specific dies. I use an "EDS" or text stating something like "early die stage without break" on various VAMs that fit the bill, beca...

Re: o/t 2020 Redbook
Yes, a complete Red Book collection can be hard to put together, and 70+ years of hardcovers look impressive on a bookshelf, but all I was saying was that you shouldn't feel "required" to buy one each year unless you're interested in collecting them. Interestingly, one of the appendices in the Red B...

2019 VSS/PCGS Bulk Submission #3 Done
2019 Shipment #2 is at PCGS, Shipment #1 still hasn't come back yet, but I'm going to tempt fate and open up another one. I expect that I'll be given some coins at CSNS, so this order should be going out in late May or early June. My fee is $6 plus shipping, PCGS's will depend on the grade they assi...

Re: o/t 2020 Redbook
This might sound dumb, but I've never used or referenced a Red Book. Is there a benefit to having the most current version or is having a complete library of all since the 40's more relevant? Thanks in advance......Andy If you're only going to buy one, then get the most recent one. The relevance of...

Re: O/T.. oh, this just happed too! (((DROOL ALERT)))
Going to pick one up this week. Thank you for that info boss. You are correct, I've never bought one, as my collecting is fairly specific, and it's easy enough to look up prices online for Morgans, Franklins, and ASEs... Are there any special years that were released with extra appendices, or other...

Those eagle feathers are Beautiful..! Is that where they got the design for the flying chicken cent for 1857/8?.. I know there was a 1856, but it wasn't legally commissioned and is considered a pattern... So that's where the design was lifted from  The more you learn! If you don't have a Red...
