I remember trying to add VSS certs and couldn't add them so I stopped trying even though there is an option to enter VSS cert numbers. This was a while ago.
Send me a list of numbers and I'll get them added.

Re: SSDC REGISTRY Problem

I don't automatically add my holders to the registry database, since not everyone I holder coins for uses it.

Congrats! Very tough coin, with not many known. I think there were 3 problem coins known before the first one that graded was found.

I can't remember if we also awarded it to A George Mallis or just named the literary awards in his honor.
We considered it at the time we awarded it to Pete Bishal, but decided to just name the literary award for him. I don't think he had any descendants that could receive the award, either.

From the photo I am looking at, it seems to be a shadow of a scratch on the plastic slab. Am I nuts or blind??
That was my first reaction.

Re: Die Studies

Carson City used 20 pairs to mint 670k in 1893. And they took really good care of their dies. The VAMs given to those dies would depend on the hubbing of the die itself, not the number of pairs used. 10 obverse dies could all be VAM-1 if they were made from the same hub that didn't show any unique ...

Re: 1878 VAM 70A - new stage listing

All too often we have seen new listings that cause people to wonder if all the coins from a set of dies show the "new" feature and subsequently if the listing should have been added at all. It would be nice if Leroy required multiple die stages to be submitted to prove that an allegedly new site sta...

Re: OT; Counterfeit American Eagles

Gold plated tungsten. Tungsten is the same density as gold, so the weight will be right. If you tried melting them, you'd melt the gold long before the tungsten, if you could melt the tungsten at all , as there is a 2360°C difference in melting point. The zombie face on Liberty is another good indic...

This is in reference of the one I sent January 20. Nothing since then. I may send another one out around 3/1.

I'm still happy with the B&L 10x I've been using for a long time. Go to a larger show where there are several vendors of loupes that you can try out. Just don't buy the larger, cheap "16X" loupe, as it is crap.

Re: SALES TAX

I just had a little volley with a bidder on eBay. My auctions are 99c starts, no reserves, and free shipping. I also leave a provision for best offers. So the bidder sends an offer of $1. I obviously declined it and added a note that ti was puzzling that such an absurd offer would be made and quest...

Very little attention is given to clashes like this on SLQs. Value it as any other 1929 in 62FH.

They said $15 add shipping and insurance both ways for variety plus
It is a Red Book variety, so it shouldn't need to go through a Variety Plus submission. At any rate, it's something I'd have taken care of at a show.

Re: Todays fun find "My Attribution Project" - '80/'79 cc REV '78

They should have put 1880/79-CC on the label without being asked. Adding "VAM 4" would have cost extra. I think so too checking their site. Probably under a review process wouldn't you think ? I'd recommend contacting them to see how to get the mistake (80/79 omission) corrected. Best case they off...
