Re: Microscope or a set of Bellows?

My system is similar to Andy's only I wish I had that Rodenstock lens. My system is a Canon XT body with an FL bellows and most of the time I'm using an old Kodak 70mm enlarging lens all mounted on a converted B&L microscope stand. I can just get full coin images at near max height and on occasion u...

So were the repackaged package contents missing as suspected?
You are correct JB. The packing peanuts are intact but the coin is MIA....This is the second empty delivery for me and 3 additional coins just disappeared at different distribution hubs. Sorry for my rant.....

I have one and always look for second. They're certainly not common like the VAM-4 and 36A....

With the revision, the 'gouge' now recognized as 'hubbed thru debris'. They'd all be VAM 33 and it's the 33A that will be eliminated. The defining feature is present on all stages of the die.
Makes sense. Thanks JR... ;)

I'm assuming VAM-33 is just a place holder or is there an actual example without the gouge?

All three examples have frosty devices that tend to accentuate minor bag rub. A camera lens and lighting can make it appear even worse. The heavier the frost the more the frost breaks jump out....

Re: Just received this amazing 1881 O today

Hmm, with known examples only in PL and DMPL this reverse die must have been retired early for what ever reason or the bag(s) containing later strikes were melted in 1918....

Congrats again Bert on acquiring a fine example of one of the better collapsed die VAMs.

Off now to find one.... :D
