Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Coin is up at GreatCollections, all profits from the sale of this coin go to Long Nocks, nothing left for the birds.

You dropped from F to VG08, Is it common to drop a grade in the restoration process?

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I have over a dozen SF Long Nocks that came back as "Details Cleaned" (I am not talking about my Details Damaged or Details Improperly Cleaned coins), what kind of price can I expect to be charged by PCGS for them to attempt restoration? What percentage of "Details Cleaned" coins can I expect them t...

Re: February 2019 SFLN

On average Heritage is selling a VAM-59 every 2.7 years, they are due to sell another in early 2021.

Re: February 2019 SFLN

I issue a challenge to the VAMWorld members to put their graded San Francisco Long Nocks up for sale and see if anybody can buy more than 30 in a single month.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Great Collections delayed posting the coin as they were not clear in how I wanted it marketed. Can't fault them, they are doing all they can to please as many people as they can.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

The issue is exacerbated by purchasing DETAILS coins knowing they were DETAILS, thinking that they had some value. It is true that some DETAILS coins still sell for good value (see Heritage Auctions 1878s VAM-111), but this is quite an anomaly. My loss of approximately four thousand dollars is more ...

Re: February 2019 SFLN

This might be a record for the most 1878s VAM-59's acquired in a single month. It seems odd that more 58's are not being offered as they are more common than the 59's. Maybe people are starting to value and horde the coins, that would be a sign that the hobby is thriving.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

I made a number of inept Morgan purchases from members here and on eBay a few years ago, bought DETAILS coins and paid a few thousand dollars more than they are worth, a good sales price on this coin will help correct the errors made.

I could’ve traded and completed my San Francisco Long Nock set, I could’ve been a contender, I could’ve been somebody.

Re: 1879s Rev 78 (PAF) VAM-56

Likely it's twice as rare as either the 1878-s VAM-60 or 1878-s VAM-72, should have traded this for the two of them rather than have it sold at auction.
