Re: Ohio State Show in Dublin
Now that is cool. As a structural earthquake engineer by training (yes, training in what happened in the 1906 SF earthquake), and numismatist, I would have bought it hands down. Thanks for sharing

Re: Question: I am attributing my 1902-o VAM-24
I went back thru my files to 2009 including all the letters from LVA. It appears that the reference to Die 1 is just a misnomer in the listing. There never was a VAM-24 Die 2. Hope that helps.

Re: 1897-o Morgan - Confusing page.
You may have just entered the "gray area". Multiple die pairs may exist. There may not be a "proper" single die pair that fits into the VAM-6.

Re: Spiked 2... (02o)
What "jumps" out at any one VAMmer is where they look in rapid in-hand viewing. This changes from person to person. The doubled ear and cotton leaves of the VAM-56 is prominent enough if trained to look there first. Another way to put this is "one man's one & done is not another's". The doubled ear ...

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.
Kurt, I did look at V21.1. I don;t think it fits at all in the V29/V47 reverse die discussion. The roughness around the IGWT letters just doesn't fit. Besides, "dots at denticles" are common on reverse dies, especially for the 1904-O series.

It is a great crack/break combination. Kinda rivals the Scarface but on the reverse, which is why I wanted one. Thanks all for the kudos.

Re: O/T Outdated Sheldon Grading Scale
I use the LDMG scale. If Iike the coin, and I can obtain it for what I think it is worth, it meets the LDMG grading system

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.
Just to address the question I posed, here are some photos. First is the VAM-29 "G-we" then the denticles below the D in DOLLAR. Followed by the VAM-47 photos of the same areas.

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.
Well, I finally have my Reference Set in front of me. Here is what we do know. My example of VAM-29 is PL. Thus it is either the first or second use of the reverse die. Given the clear G-we, let's assume it is the first use. The reverse of the VAM-47 is clearly a later die state, since it is clashed...

Re: 1881-S VAM-1B vs VAM-67
Looks like Nico beat me to the punch on this question. But we are still not any closer to a resolution. Seems the 1B/67 are the same die pair from all indications. Thanks from me for all the feedback on this.

Re: 1881-S VAM-1B vs VAM-67
Thanks JB. You saved me time to make the same response.
I guess the real question is if anyone has a 1881-S with the die chip on eagle's wing with a different obverse than the VAM-67. There are enough around for folks to take a look. It would seem the DC of the VAM-1B is long gone.

1881-S VAM-1B vs VAM-67
I see on the pages that there is a question about the two subject VAMs possibly sharing the same reverse die. Looks like JR has seen VAM-67 coins both with (LDS) and without the chip in eagle's wing. Has anything been decided about these two listings? It seems there is a question whether the 67 and ...

Won't swear that everyone would agree with what is in the Scorecard, but it does demonstrate basic attributes.

The word "hammered" reminded me of this. To keep it above board, I have no interest in this company, but thought it was cool.

Recent Covid Acquisitions
Some things never change. While doing my VAM stuff, I get a hair to obtain some cool coins. Just wanted to share some recent acquisitions.
