Re: 1902-O Coin poop
I do not know of a reverse die with this feature. As others have said, not in the die.

This happened about as seamlessly as possible. Thanks to Andy and Leroy taking an email kill.

Re: Back from LVA yesterday.
I don't want this opportunity to pass without reminding folks about some general protocol that should be followed. If someone thinks they have a new listing, or can't ID the coin they have, they should vet the coin on this site. If that doesn't work, then you should contact whoever has done a date &...

Re: 78P ECM - Needs confirmation !
I am going to repeat this story,as it seems to be applicable here. However, some will likely think I am an idiot, or may not relate the story to this thread. Regardless, here goes. Early in my VAM hobby, I was putting together a Clashed E collection. At the time, there was only the listing for the 1...

Re: Back from LVA yesterday.
Okay, I will punt first. Here is the official listing of the 1902-O VAM-45 Die Pair #1 from October, 2009. In order, my photo of the mint mark, the VAM Plate that matches your coin at the cap fold junction, the die scratch below eagle's talon, and the listing from Leroy. Let me know if you have any ...

Re: Back from LVA yesterday.
I guess there is no interest in resolving the VAM-45 Die Pair #1 and Die Pair #14 listings? The VAM-45 Die Pair #8 was also listed by Leroy, but was shown to be a duplicate of Die Pair #1 and hence delisted. Looks to me like the Die Pair #14 is the same thing, a duplicate. If there is interest, PM me.

Re: 1924 Peace Dollar VAM-1D1 and 1B1
Keep in mind that the clashed E on Morgan dollars is raised on the field of the coin. On Peace dollars, it will be incuse (below) to the field.

Okay, you are right and I am wrong. Sorry to offer an opinion and try to keep a duplicate listing from occurring.

Beg your pardon.CascadeChris wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 1:19 amI would send it now and just pay the $15 for 1. Sucks when you delay sending and someone else happens to find one and sends it to him before you do.

Re: 1881-O Die Pairing Question
I wouldn't be so quick to declare "road trip" as what seems to be happening here and has happened in the past. I would respect the time and energy that Hawkeye has put into the 81-O series and give him time to look into this to respond. While the fact that JB doesn't recognize it is important, but H...

Re: Back from LVA yesterday.
Discovery coins are always a smile in a box. Just a comment however, the 1902-O VAM-45 Die #14 is a duplicate of the VAM-45 Die #1 EDS. The die pair is difficult to ID because it is very plain jane. It fools me sometimes. Besides all the stuff Leroy mentions, there is a very slight vertical die scra...

Re: A Super CD list question..
If I am not mistaken, protocol in this situation is that the creator(s) of the Lists make the call whether to add a different die pair with the money side of the coin as one die to the list. Maybe I am wrong, but the example I use is the 1902-O VAM-43. When it was listed, only one die pair was known...

Re: I FINISHED the Kimpton 12 set
Congrats Lee. That last hole in the K12 set is a tuffy. I showed Jeff Oxman one at a FUN Show and I got two "Oh YEAHs" from him, one from the obverse and one from the reverse, and a smile from ear to ear.

Re: 1892-S Crackers
Sorry, should have been clear. Not my coin. Just auction photos that I thought were interesting since some folks really like crackers. My pocketbook can't support buying this type of coin in this grade.

Re: 1892-S VAM-8 Hit List 40 Obverse
The scratches in and outside the ear are on all examples of this obverse die that I have seen. They do get weaker and more subtle with die wear. Given the nature of the "one & done" tripled hair curls, I don't think they add anything to the description or PUPs IMHO.

Re: 1892-S VAM-8 Hit List 40 Obverse
Yeah, one never knows what Leroy would do in a situation like this. I do agree that higher grade examples would be better to send in, if anything is sent in at all. The obverse is the money side of the coin after all.

Re: 1892-S VAM-8 Hit List 40 Obverse
John, the VNA designation is a placeholder for "VAM Not Assigned". What you show for your VNA-13 example looks solid. My point was that the tripled hair curl obverse die was used with two different reverse dies. One of them is unlisted, however both reverse dies have mint mark placements that could ...
