Kenny, the pickles were to die for. When the time comes, PM me if you can ship a jar or two.

Re: COVID Business Failures O/T

It is interesting to me that a coin site has such interactions. It is also interesting to me from a social perspective. Hope all is well with everyone regardless of your opinions.

Thanks to all, including the SSDC. Just a benefit of doing die studies.

Re: 1899-O vs 1900-O varieties

To my knowledge no one has done a die study of the 1899-Os. Bigbub has been studying the 1900-Os, but likely can't answer your question. It would take a die study of both years mintage. Since they are both large mintages, likely the answer to your question may never be answered.

Wonder why the guy opening the bag didn't wear gloves when handling the coins?

Re: 1904-O VAM-29 and VAM-47 Reverse die marriage.

Kurt, sorry to come in so late on this. There is a very long story which I won't get into. But the bottom line is I don't have my 1904-O Reference Set available to check any of this with my coins. But your observations seem sound, as do your photos. Maybe one day when things settle down. Hope all is...

I think that is the whole point of a FORUM is it ? To throw out ideas and thoughts and see what
other peoples opinions are.
Guess I was just sharing my opinion.

Re: CAC

Whatever happened to "buy the coin, not the holder"? If you care about CAC stickers, then great. If not, then great. Why start a thread about it? But I get we are all likely stir-crazy.

John, does this link to a NGC 61 example help? Note the much stronger die scratches below Liberty's capfold.

Re: Think this NEWP has a case of Ringworm

For what it's worth, and likely not worth much, the die pair comes with and without the cracks. Both with cracks and without cracks have the same beveled fields on both obverse and reverse. Here are my notes from reviewing over 1256 coins in AU50 and up in grade. "The primary characteristics of this...

Re: 1904 O Vam 28a "Trigger"

One mans "significant rim break" is another mans "die poop". Leroy may list this type of thing today, but then again, why? I mean, why have every darn die stage/state listed? Does this really help the hobby? Does it increase the value of a coin? Or, is it just the same die pair that isn't worth anyt...
