Re: Very Rare 80-P Clashed WOW

Local B&M who always let me pick through his Morgans unknowingly put one of those on Ebay a couple years back. He had acquired it during a local show. I hadn't been into his shop in a couple months so I didn't see it before he listed it. I stopped in his shop a couple days after it had ended and he ...

Re: 1900 O/CC

I actually saw a similar but lower grade coin on E-bay today. It looked similar in the the mm area and had the same die crack across the D/wing tip/S. It was enough to make me look here @ VW for a match in the o / cc listings, but alas, no match that i could find.

Hope it turns out for ya! I may never get to own one of those, but I still like this one from the next year out of New Orleans.... 1890 o VAM 1B

Looks as though the 1, 8, and 9 match the doubling listed for that VAM. Inside the last 9 looks more like a toning issue.

Re: PCGS Declares a New Vam.

Magnified the photo posted here and it looks to have a die crack similar to the 1B EDS..... does it have the reverse of VAM 24 oval O ?

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Checked my VAM 20 stash - None of them have the crack that was noted on the VAM 14a. None have the die chip in the O of GOD. And none have the small gouge at the wing to leg area. One of my 14A examples does not have the crack, but does have both the gouge and the die chip in O. jae_1891o_14a.Ochip....

Re: Overdate VAM-20

I have a VAM 20 w/gouges on obverse in ANACS EF 40 details/scratched, and without the gouges in PCGS AU58 and ANACS XF45, and a 14a in PCGS 55 (which I will need to check for early vs. later die state) Also have several other 14a uncertified, including the one that was the revision for the letter "N...

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Wondering what, if any, thoughts about sending in the VAM 20 w / gouges on obverse for a possible new discovery? Definitely not PMD. Also, does 14a have another stage (14B perhaps) if the obverse letter clashing has faded away (similar to 1889 o VAM 20a vs. 20b?

Re: Overdate VAM-20

So the 14a needs to be found without the gouge at the lower left wing where it meets the leg, and also where the O in GOD is not filled.... as seen on VAM 20. That would be an EDS VAM 14a? Anyone seen one of these? Then an event occurs to cause the gouges on the obverse of VAM 20, and it gets replac...

Re: Overdate VAM-20

I need to get my certified examples from bank to help in this puzzle. To make it even more confusing, there is another die pair in the mix also. VAM 1D has a clashed and unclashed version. I am fairly certain the clashed obverse of VAM 1D is the same die that became VAM 14a. Currently working on a o...

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Of the 2 examples of the 14a I have at my desk, one has the die crack pictured earlier in this thread, the other one has no trace of it. VAM 20 has no trace of that die crack.
