Re: 1880 O PCGS 62 VAM 6D Top Pop?
PCGS screws up too! (Just in case you had not noticed...) :D They all screw up at some point but that is a high dollar mistake. Also, if you look down at one of the PCGS 58 on that same page I linked, it is not a VAM 6D. Talking about PCGS screw ups, I do have a 1891 O PCGS 55 attributed as VAM 1A ...

1880 O PCGS 62 VAM 6D Top Pop?
My recent find of a VAM 6D got me to looking at the top pops of the TPG's. When I view the PCGS top pop of this VAM, it does not look to be VAM 6D. It has a clashed reverse and VAM 6D should not have a clashed reverse according to listing. I could be wrong but tell me if I am right about this attrib...

Re: Long Wait Is Over
Yes, VAM 6D. I did wait until in hand to attribute because I'm aware that NGC doesn't always get the VAM numbers correct. It has all the reverse pups. I put the link to the VAM from NGC website to view. Also, in the SSDC there is nothing higher than MS 60 in the group. Truly rare variety in the 1880...

Long Wait Is Over
Ever since VAM collecting virus has been in me, I have waited many years to pick up this VAM for the price I could afford. Having only modest of income for big pricey VAMs, this one came to me by way of ebay auction for only $89. Though, in NGC "AU Details" holder, it is one of those VAMs in any gra...

Re: 1923 VAM 1C
If you are referring 1923-P VAM 1C1, it looks like it is RonH270.
There are VAM 1C's in all three mints for that year.

Nice pick up on that edition. Not easy to find. Here is one of my prized possessions of A. George Mallis edition of 1964.

Re: I and R numbers
Probably removed because some VAMs I & R factors are not accurate and has been only a guess when Mr. VanAllen determined it when he gave it a new VAM number. Here is a thread you should read to get the jist of it all. http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1276&p=10858&hilit=interest+rari...

I could be wrong, because of the lighting. Are the two obverses shown the same coin?

How Morgan Dollars Became Indian Ruppees
Being a history nerd and a collector of Morgan Dollars, it has come together in this article. I learned a little bit of interesting history today. We now know where much of the silver went after the Pittman Act of 1918.

Re: 1891-O V1Ax - a lit'l guidance?
I am also jealous of messy's 1A2. Yours is a great find of a 1A3. The difference between 1A2 and 1A3 is when the dome die break (1A2) starts to extend the die break to the wreath (1A3) and becomes a complete die failure. Here is my 1A3 which I have not seen a later state yet. In VAMworld 1.0 one of ...
