Re: Name That VAM - 1891-O edition

These dies that created the 1A were definitely over used to the point the mound break looked like this.

Re: I finally found one!

Good write up Dennis.
I did check my ANACS 63 41A and it is truly a 41A. (can be seen in the SSDC registry) The pitting is amazing. It is in a newer ANACS holder so I know it was attributed correctly.

8/7 Pickups

Recently, I have narrowed down my scope of VAMs that I look for and still do not have in my collection. (There are many) With not much moolah to start with, (especially after the holidays) these two 1880 P Morgans popped up recently at auction and won both for not high amounts. The first pic is VAM ...

Re: Fun Thread.... POST YOUR DESK / WORKSPACE

My desk is usually a mess but I did some New Year cleaning days ago. I built my desk years ago made out of solid red oak. It will be here long after I'm not.

Re: An 1904 O vam 37A

Nice broken mintmark VAM. I'm not sure if it is truly a R-7 VAM but it has many cool features.
I have one in a NGC 63 holder.

If you go to the hsn.com site under coins, you can see some of the ANACS holders they sell. You will find very similar holders that you are questioning.

Re: What's your favorite acquisition of 2019?

Though, I did not acquire many in '19, I still love looking at this 1A3 from the wild I did acquire. It also came back in a ANACS XF 45 to boot.

Re: Approximate initial deliveries of New Orleans dollars - 1879

Thanks for posting. This reminds me of the article of the first "adjusted" 1879 O dollar at the New Orleans Mint. Mr. Burdette, you actually gave a informative response to this article (link below). My question about this article would be, is this the first dies used for the 1879 O and if it is, can...

Re: My Annual ANACS Submission Return

Thanks all.
According to ANACS population report, the 1891 O VAM 1A3 XF 45 is the highest graded for that VAM. I realize there are some PCGS VAM 1A3's in PCGS holders all the way up to AU 55. I think that has to be my pick of the year.

My Annual ANACS Submission Return

Though 2019 has been much tougher year to cherry pick great VAMs, I am pleased with what I have found. I took advantage of the ANACS special. I only had 5 Morgan VAM picks for the year, :( so I had to insert another 5 American coins to accomplish the ANACS 10 coin special. These non-Morgans are coin...

IMO it is post mint damage. If not post mint damage, it could only be a strike thru of some sort, but that is a long shot.
