Is my 1878 S a vam 19A or 19B?

While looking through my 1878 S dates, I saw this 1878 S NGCMS62, that I had labeled as a vam 19A or 19B. I see a very faint neck clash and I think I see the faint N clash below. I see the 'r' in 'trust' has been polished down so the arm is almost completely gone. The 'G' in God is also fully open, ...

Re: I just found another 'funky feather' vam

Thank you John and fogie, I just read, about this vam, having a long continuous acid treated area, between eagle’s right wing and leg extending up between wing and body with smooth top and rough sides. It looks like it goes, almost, to the top of the wing and body. I also read, that 'latter die stat...

I just found another 'funky feather' vam

After getting help, remembering which lava or funky feather wing vam my vam 76 was, I found another one. I have a BU 1878 S, that after seeing pictures of the bottom of the acid treated wing Feather and the acid field claw and the top arrow feather, I think it is a vam 49. I also see the dot, on the...

Re: I need help with which 'funky feather' vam, my 1878 S is

A BIG THANK YOU everyone, for all of your help. I'm learning and I just found, what I think is a BU 1878 S 'funky feather' vam 49, which I will post photos of. I had them labeled as a 'lava wing' and I just forgot and got confused, after getting them out, after fifteen years. Thank you again, Bert

Re: I need help with which 'funky feather' vam, my 1878 S is

Thank you vamsterdam, I tried to find your name, but it is harder to do, with this newer Vamworld site, than the older one or I just don't know where to look.. Does the S mint mark look doubled? Are those impressions, on the middle of the eagle's right wing, suppose to be there? Is the die chip, nea...

I need help with which 'funky feather' vam, my 1878 S is

I had found my 1878 S PCGSMS63, awhile back and I had it labled, as a vam 76. I see, that mine doesn't have the acid field claw, like the vam 40. Mine doesn't have the same shaped acid wing, as the vam 50, but mines does have the small round dot, on the back of the lips. Mine doesn't have the horizo...

Re: I need help with my 1922, with double die gouges

Thank you Mitch, I had looked at the vam 2CQ and saw in the description,, that the die gouges were below the G and I couldn't .see a clear picture, on the page. On mine the gouges are below the G and O and in the center of the O. Plus, mine has a couple of pretty clear, short diagonal gouges, runnin...

I need help with my 1922, with double die gouges

I bought this 1922 PCGSMS63, because I saw the double die gouges below GOD, on the obv and I was hoping it was the R-7 vam 1P2. After receiving it, I see no radial die break, at the top of the ray, between the B and E. I saw that the double die gouges, below GOD, also look like they are inside of th...

1921 PEACE DOLLAR VAM 3

I was very lucky to have spotted and won my 1921 PCGSMS64
Peace dollar vam 3, ray over L, awhile back.
I was just noticing all of the cool die polish lines and I wanted
to post some pictures.
Enjoy, Bert
