Re: PCGS Frustration
Just to confirm what John Coxe said, I am backlogged. Doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon either. It's both a blessing and curse. Before COVID hit, there was real talk of our industry dying out

Re: 1878-S VAM 60 shared reverse
Here's the rundown of shared dies from my booklet and later research. Only one reverse die was shared in the 'Long Nock' group. The same die was used for VAMs 56 and 58. Re: Interesting counterstamp. Anybody seen this before??
If you're wondering about the W shape, picture the reeding on many dollars. The deepest parts are obvious - it's from the reeds. The indentation in the centers is not typical, but many pieces have small raised ridges in the center of the spaces between reeds. It's like the EDS stage of the collar di...

Is it already listed?
Is this the die that was also used for 80-S dollars?

Re: Anyone recognize this 79-S?
If it's not the same, then it's a seriously evil mimic. There are multiple vertical lines under the cotton bolls and that diagonal line in the L of LIBERTY too.

Re: Anyone recognize this 79-S?
Wow, think you're right. Looks a little different in a higher grade. But, there's enough there to convince me it's a match. Thanks!

Anyone recognize this 79-S?
Thought it would be pretty basic since it has a strong RPM - but I'm coming up empty.

Re: 1897 Vam 6A
So is the J shaped scratch at the bottom of the ear present? Why is the 'dot' a different color?
I'll invite you to entertain the idea that I and others on this site might know a little bit more about VAMs than your guy at the local coin store.

Re: 1878-S VAM-17 EDS?

Re: 1921-D VAM 1AO - is it valid?
The filled die was on an early stage with no breaks. A crack pattern matching VAM 1P would have likely prevented the duplicate listing from its inception. Thanks again for the help with putting this one to rest
