Re: An intersection of interests

Psychic Bank of Ohio. But really, the bank was founded in 1907 and I think the building this came from was built back in the mid 1920's. The bank is long gone but the building is still there. Think the upper floors have been converted to condos.

An intersection of interests

This showed up today. It's a 5 inch bronze uniface medallion that was on the front panel of a teller window at the old Dollar Savings Bank in downtown Columbus

I've got pictures of a much higher grade example to make comparisons against once the piece is in hand, but my first impression is you might be right.

Re: Here's today's puzzle

OK, here's the story. This is obviously struck by a cancelled die. In fact, this is one of the 2 oz tokens Ash had struck with the mated 84-CC pair he bought at the ANA. I did an 'About VAMs' column on the dies right after the show. I've had the dies in hand. The pic is from the ANA. After the token...

John's talking about the 2017 version with two volumes. Pretty much every thing from the 1992 edition carried over with enough material to fill another volume that's just as big

Wow. Two volumes that big? That's got to be 8-10 pounds of books.
14 pounds for the set - seriously

Re: The Comprehensive US Silver Dollar Encyclopedia, 2017 Edition

It's a two volume set. Some of the information is useful, other chapters are reminiscences of the past dollar market. If you're expecting a focused work like the VAM book or Bowers encyclopedia, this ain't it. I'm happy I have my copy but it is choppy.

I'm biased because I wrote one of the chapters. Some parts are more useful than others

Re: SSDC Registry deadline is Dec 1st

I've updated the SSDC Registry awards page to reflect the winners from 2021 and 2022. The awards have now been presented, or notified by email. A couple of the winners still need to respond. Thanks again to everyone that participated in the registry.

A Dozen VAMs for 2021 and 2022

I was able to do both presentations at FUN so the two lists are now live as SSDC registry sets. I've also added them to the JR list page here
