Re: Have a Laugh at My Expense

You might try some Simple Green, but I'd be sorely tempted to make some bloody finger jokes around the house first

Re: Clashed 1895-O

Yeah, the one that comes to mind is a stage of what is pictured as VAM 1 on the VAMworld pages. It comes single and double clashed. Here's an example of the single clash stage https://coins.ha.com/itm/morgan-dollars/silver-and-related-dollars/1895-o-1-ms63-pcgs-cac-pcgs-7236-/a/1299-3846.s?ic4=Galle...

Re: Vams for Ikes...

ANACS won't attribute DIVA numbers for the exact reason messydesk stated. There are a few interesting Ike varieties, but the series is plagued by doubled master dies and working hubs. It's a series where the listings need contraction rather than expansion if it is to have any hope of attracting a wi...

Re: 1882 cc

VAM 3D is a good place to start. If the clash marks in front of the neck are polished down a little you don't have to look any further

And welcome to VAMworld

Re: 1879P....VAM-44

This looks like a match for VAM 58. It's an 'evil mimic' of VAM 44. The example on the VAM 44 page done by ANACS (and most likely me) is probably wrong. The gouges inside the ear on a 44 are almost perfectly vertical.

Re: I missed one

I've been thru several changes of ownership with ANACS. I have little doubt the PCGS brand and its service will survive regardless of its current corporate incarnation.

Re: 1878 CC Die Scratch I Cannot Attribute

It's a good learning experience. It's easy to focus on the feature that grabs your eye (in this case the long line) and search the listings for just that pick up point. It's not always going to be there for a variety of reasons. That second look at the coin for another 'listable' feature will almost...

Re: Die Adjustment Strike ?

Normal reeding puts this in the 'weakly struck' pile. Sorry

But I gotta ask - there's those pancake stars on the left and no clashing apparent in the pics. Is this an actual VAM 22?

Re: One Cool Mint Error

Here's the thread Roger is referring to.... http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4186&hilit=ike+indent It's worth noting the limited Ike design in the indented area stays more or less in its original shape. It does not bend and stretch thru the indented area like we see on the Morgan in...
