Re: PCGS Declares a New Vam.

Wow, way to smear a skidmark across the label of a condition census coin. Guess this qualifies as a 'mechanical error'

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Does VAM 20 exist without the obverse gouges?

Sorry, missed the note by lured-in-again that he has examples of VAM 20 with and without the obverse gouges.

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Dug out my VAM 14A and the VAM 20 I bought from Brian a few months ago. Maybe I can clear up some of the confusion. Re: .ana graded coins

I just searched for ANA holder on eBay and counted the ones that are from the first generation. If you're asking me to explain eBay's policy, I'm not sure they can explain it themselves A far more transparent reporting process would go a long way to fixing this sort of problem, but they'll never act...

Fifteen live auctions on eBay right now with this exact style of holder, all with certified grades mentioned in title.

Multiple examples of of all five marriages are reported in the SSDC registry, with the finest known of each respective pair in the hands of collectors that would get the attribution correct.

Article in this issue of Errorscope

My article about the 1883-O VAM 33 is now published in the July-August edition. It's a discussion about how a die can be hubbed thru debris.

Yeah, that stayed in Colorado. They do have my book, and the last numismatist that looked at it has 20 years in the field on me.

Re: 1884-o Pics 4 Page.... Full, No-Plate Zombie

Yeah, the listings in the 4th edition have identical nomenclature with no explanation of how they were supposed to be different. Even the revised description sounds pretty much the same. Betting VAM 36 seems like it's a zombie because it really is just laying there dead and empty, just waiting to ea...
