Re: My thoughts about FUN 2021

I'm hoping I can make it but Ohio is spiking hard. I am not doing a 14 day quarantine just to do a show, even this one. Flying in and out of Orlando doesn't help matters either. It sucks because I have three separate presentations to do - my list for 2021, the SSDC awards and I was going to discuss ...

If you can get it there, I'd slab it.
Seriously though, promo holders like this get no grade

Re: SSDC Registry deadline is Dec 1st

It's that time again, even if this has been a year like no other. Get the finishing touches on those sets. Judgement day is drawing near. The awards themselves will be different this year. Instead of plaques, ANACS is doing 2020 sliver eagles in custom holders with the category and the winner's actu...

Re: The crusher strikes - again

So the gist of the 'Readers Ask' bit was a person came across a 21-S Morgan and a 22 Peace dollar. He had convinced himself that the one was a Zerbe strike and the other was a matte proof. He had bombarded the staff writer that routinely edits my monthly column with questions and many, many photogra...

Re: Cherry Pickers Guide

The 6th edition Vol. 2 hasn't been published yet. It is still very much a work in progress.

The absurd prices for the other editions border on criminal conduct. Fairly certain the out of stock/print status is temporary or they (Whitman) wouldn't be working on the latest edition.

The crusher strikes - again

Open up this week's 'Coin World' and turn to the 'Readers Ask' page. I served as the designated hitter (figuratively speaking) on a question about a pair of silver dollars.
My 'About VAMs' column on the 1889 VAM 23B also appears in this issue

Re: VSS Label Obfuscates Actual Numbers of Each VAM

I don't put every variety or error I've attributed in the ANACS pop report. All the services have the option to only include a more generic version of the certification to their respective populations. For example, on the 88-O Scarface, we'll certify the various Harrison stages, but none of them sho...

The edge looks a bit sharp.
Indeed. A genuine example would have been struck in a big screw press with an 'open collar'. The look of the edge alone is enough to condemn it. The weird depressions and little apparent strike thru spots only pile on. Overall it is well done, but looks copied
