Re: New Orleans coinage 1857-June 1880

Thanks for finding this reference as always. Maybe I am just thinking about other references to CSA coinage and not New Orleans specific.

Re: New Orleans coinage 1857-June 1880

Probably my age, but I thought there were some CSA records of letters documenting (bragging) about the capture of the Mint and coins struck with existing and altered dies.

Re: PCGS 2021 pops keep going up

There are sellers on eBay offering ms69 coins, so is tgis anticipatory or bad accounting on the part of PCGS

Can you post a picture of one for us? It has been quite a while since I have seen one.

Re: New Orleans coinage 1857-June 1880

This is really interesting because this is where I paused my analysis of the superintendents and where I will pick up again. The last superintendent was William Augustus Elmore before the State took over and I don't think I know I have seen research showing that the State of Louisiana did seize some...

Re: $85 coin sold for $7,125

I still believe there is a lot of value in making all the VAM Discovery Coins NFT's!

We might discover what the true upper limit on a Morgan is

I would have guessed a bone marrow extractor.

But apparently a butter pick is the correct answer

Re: 2021-O Polished Die?

I assume these are examples where automation of the die creation and repair produced coins of a lower quality than the handmade dies

Re: PCGS 2021 pops keep going up

A bit strange that all are 70's unless there is a way to preclude others

It might also limit the value if there are nothing but 70's

Re: 2021 P

Are we now into 2021 varieties?

Maybe a special little link on the date list?

I noticed on the new Gold Eagles they are starting to find things like unfinished proof dies

October 1881-O

Well my conversion to Windows 11 took longer than expected and that has thrown me a few days late. But I am converted, tested, backed up, and about everything else. In October I am back to the die crack analysis and covered VAMs 4, 4A, 26, and 26A. I am narrowing in on completing this multi-year stu...

Re: Due Diligence

I think this is a common issue since rarely does the discoverer of one VAM have examples of the others to send to Leroy. I don't know the answer other than to be sure Leroy has great photographic records or for VAMers to cooperate to submit coins together. We put Leroy in a very difficult position w...
