I have even tryed to bribe someone into doing a die study but nothing has become of it. It has been a number of years now...

It is looking NEW. Exact obverse die of the 1900-S VAM-2 & exact reverse die as 1900-S VAM-12. It will make its way to one of the Johns. Thanks Everyone and Merry Christmas! (Even if you do not celebrate it I hope it is wonderful for you and yours!)

The gouges in the neck/wing gap match the 1900-S VAM-3.

In my opinion - if you want a rarity factor assigned to all 8,000 - 10,000 VAMs - MAKE one and then sell it to the masses. Good luck. Producing said data would be a fantastic amount of work and selling it I suspect would be even more difficult. Do the work - do not just sit there and snivel because ...

There were about 15 - 20 listed on Ebay by Oakland Coin & Jewelry Exchange. The shop was notified about the whole situation, and they apparently pulled the listings and are waiting for the Police to do their thing. There may be some hope yet on at least a few....! Update (premature perhaps...) John Coxe discovered that some of my purloined coins were offered on ebay by Oakland Coin & Jewely exchange. The police have been notified and (presumably) the wheels are turning (VERY slowly). While there were only 15 pieces being offered - who know - there may be more...

Check out 1879-P VAM-7B, 1921-S VAM-13B for similarities. 1890-O VAM-33 and 1891-P VAM-6/6A not quite as close....

I turns out a single variety (VAM) can in fact be listed twice. There are several reasons for this and none of them are full on "intentional". They are all a mistake of one variety or another. If you encounter one of these errors I would encourage you to share the details of your findings right here...
