Fresh from J.B.

Most of what I sent JB was 1900-S but there was 1 CC in the batch.... Thanks for sending the 1900-S study set. I was able to correlate several with “VNA” coins in Alan’s die study and straighten out a few others. Official descriptions are below. An asterisk by the VAM number indicates a revision. 18...

Re: Denticle dots, are they from strike dbl?

I am not sure how they come to be but I can tell you that they are really common (once you start to look for them) and they are found on many (if not all) date and from different mints. There is at least 1 VAM (1902-P VAM-19) out there that owes it's existence to those little denticle dots. LVA soon...

Re: Master level challenge....

Alan is the MASTER of 1902-O!!! It is in fact the 1902-O VAM-10 as he said. Good Job! Here I am thinking the San Francisco mint was the only ones doing the reengraving of these leaves.

Master level challenge....Alan Wins...

I had never noticed this particular pair of leaves before (on this VAM...) but it is pretty cool! Reengraved leaves. leave your guess as to what we are looking at and I will reveal in a few days....

Mine is in the vault 1000 miles away. I should be able to catch up with it in about a month and can investigate then.

Re: 1921 B over S in "PLURIBUS"

Looks normal from here. Schmootz around letters is very common (& normal) and is a relic of the process that puts the devices in the die.

Re: 1900-P VAM-1

None of the VAM-1 s should have a significantly slanted date. When George & LVA set this whole thing up they decided to reserve the first spot for each date/mintmark (VAM-1) for the "NORMAL" coin. This is why we are finding that there are some VAM-1 s that do not exist even though they are listed in...

I recently came home with this little head scratcher. Looking for insight on how this came to be.... (It is an 1884-O VAM-14)

I need to have the sticker with the VAM number on the holder. The price paid, when, where.... - not so much.
