Re: Pitting on 1921-D VAM-1o EDS
From the photos it looks to me like there is a depression in the middle of several if those bumps. If ya find a newly chipped asphalt drive somewhere and lay a nice Morgan down on said drive and run over it with a VW (for example) you should get a similar surface. Watch out for the lightning cause t...

Re: New considerations for the SSDC "Them's the Breaks (Basic)" registry set
I have talked with one of the two coauthors of the set. It turns out that the set was aimed at radial die breaks and was not intended to be 100% inclusive. Several known radial die breaks were left out intentionally as they wanted the set to be possible to finish. Said coauthor will chime in here so...

I now know who authored the set! (That did not take but ~3 minutes!)

Re: New considerations for the SSDC "Them's the Breaks (Basic)" registry set
Inclusion in a set may be decided by the author of said set. I.E. the Top 100 - we do not add to that set without Jeff's input. Other sets are less well defined (copyrighted...). The "Thems the breaks" seems to be one of them. No idea who came up with the list and additions can be made by anyone (at...

Re: 1887 VAM-4A Question
I own the Discovery coin on this one so I took a look. In fact I currently have 12 of them - way more than any sane person should have (but I digress)... As best I can tell the verbiage in question adds nothing but confusion so I removed it. Below is a shot of an 1887 VAM-4A. The furrowed brow (stri...

Re: view census
The census in the SSDC registry is current. If you enter a coin - it is in the census quick as those electrons can do their thing. The "census" that can be found on some of the VAMworld pages - is NOT current. Other censuses - who knows! Hope this helps. VAMon

What is a Die Study?Quote johnhenry9009 by johnhenry9009 » Sat Aug 26, 2023 9:16 pm This may be a dumb question but I have been wondering about what a Die Study is and how one is done. I know that it probably means the progressing of a Die or Dies that eventually deteriorate or suffer a failure tha...
