Thanks Gents! :D A counterfeit I can be proud of.... I bought it off ebay and actually got my money back. I bought from this seller before with no issues, he was stunned it was a counterfeit and rebated money. I still buy from this seller to this day. Them wacky Chinese! hee hee hee

Re: 1896 P VAM 24 vs New VAM35

Not necessarily, could you check the reverse and see if it matches the V24 page, " Reverse C3c– Slightly doubled lower bottom inside of UNITED STATES OF letters towards rim. Slight doubling of tops of In God W letters." If there is no doubling, then it would be a V35....hope that made sense. :D Than...

Need help identifying 1887 S

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. Was hoping I could get a little help on this 1887 S. Pretty slim pickins for the year and MM. I've ruled out all the near/very near dates as this one looks to be "far date". Date placement looks similar to VAM 8. I'm seeing doubling at tops of 887. Also, heavy...

Re: 1883-O VAM-39A ??

Thanks Brent! Does anyone think these cracks show displaced metal? Also, I noticed that vam 39 does not list the dbl'd ear....not sure I fully understand why. It's noted in 39A "Slight doubling of ear at right inside shows when die is slightly polished later in die life." Anywho, here's a couple pic...

Re: 1883-O VAM-39A ??

Chris, good question, I'm not sure it would rise to a new VAM listing :| I had it in my LVA box as a possibility. From my notes, the pitting was not the main reason I was thinking about sending to Leroy. It was mainly the cracks on obverse. Maybe others will chime in and give some direction. JB, JR ...

Re: 1923 VAM-1CZ or something else?

Yup, the Doc is right, I had a look at my 1CZ discovery and doesn't match up. I'll try and get some additional pics added to page. Leroy's plate photo don't capture the file lines very well. Good luck!
