Re: 1900-O Help sought

In my experience, the 1900-O series has three levels of date position listings. 1) Not mentioned at all 2) According to the chart published in the Big Book 3) Not according to the chart published in the Big Book. Add those same conditions for coin dates listed as "Low" and "Slanted" and you get a si...

Re: O/T Gold in them there Hills

Since January 2016, the use of vacuum or suction dredge equipment, otherwise known as suction dredging, is currently prohibited and unlawful throughout California. Apparently, it is fine and dandy for nature to wash sediment and minerals down a river, but it's very bad for rivers when humans do it f...

Re: 1900-O VAM-54

Every single web page in Vamworld says "Official VAM listing" meaning Leroy listed it prior to 2021 (and JB and JR after). As far as I'm concerned, listings are official until unlisted. Someone went in and added "dubious listings" and "past vam assignments" and removed them from the official listing...

Re: 1900-O VAM-21D1 or 21D2 or...?

It's the 21D1 because the date is not slanted and the die chip has not formed in the "E" yet. But the other attributes are there.

The major difference between VAM21 and VAM 23 is the near slanted date on the VAM 23. just ignore the date position on the 23C as Leroy once told me and you will be fine.

Re: Is there a way to....?

Yes, these are broken links to discussions that are from the VAMWorld 1.0 forum webpages. They all have been archived according to JB, but not yet incorporated into 2.0. It's a tremendous task to do that and probably a future project for distributed work by date and mintmark from volunteers similar ...

Re: nailing down my o/cc

Pictures are a little rough to tell, but from the appearance of the date position in your photo being a bit further left, I'd say check VAM 11. Look under the bottom of 'I' in PLURIBUS for a die scratch descending to the left wheat stalk.

Re: Reputability of SEGS & PCI?

SEGS and PCI are both reputable in my view. They just aren't that popular. But they also will certify VAMs that are privately made and are components of list sets, as well as other VAMs other TPG's won't attribute. So they serve a purpose for VAM collectors who use the registry.

Re: NGC Tampering

NGC is pursuing a civil action against Mr. Albright which is the proper thing for them to do when fraudulent activity affects their business. However, Fraud is also a criminal activity. When someone uses the internet and the US mail to conduct fraud, as is always the case in eBay transactions, it is...

Re: Heritage VAM and PL Morgan sale Monday, 9/19

I got one nice 8 tailfeather coin that I had wanted for years. Laughed at the PCGS EDS Scarface prices, but lost the reasonably priced ANACS Harrison 1B.H3. It was turning into a bidding war and I really didn't want to push it any higher. Hope somebody here got it. The auction is very professionally...

Re: My rant to PCGS yesterday

UPS delivery has been signing for the customer for quite some time now. Its because of COVID, they don't want their machine handled by the public. They do verify you are home though, or they won't leave the package. Same thing happened the other day with a USPS signature. They ring the bell and step...

Re: O/T Taxman

This is all the result of the Wayfair vs South Dakota decision in 2018. Wayfair sued to prevent sales tax collection in states where they had no physical presence under 1967’s Bellas Hess and 1992 Quill cases, where the Supreme Court had already held that states could not require an out-of-state cat...
