Re: Revisions to 1900=O O/CC VAM-7, 7A, 10, and 10A
Not sure that Leroy wrote more in the update letter, because the revision was listed for the VAM 7 reverse doubling not previously listed where it first occurred, per his letter. The reverse die was the C3e which was used on both the VAM 7 and VAM 10. Late VAM 7 and the 7A have clash marks but no le...

Re: 1900-O Slanted Date Help Needed, Please
It's not the VAM-2C, so that leaves the VAM-38. If you look closely, the VAM-2C has been duplicated as the die 1 variant of the VAM-38 anyway. That must mean multiple die varieties of VAM-38 exist, so you can call it that and be done. I'm aware that your mint mark is a medium 'O' and does not look l...

Re: 1900-O Slanted Date Help Needed, Please
I see a die crack in 'A' in AMERICA running through the eagles left wing. So look at VAM 2C which also has such a die crack. The 2C is a slanted date and was revised as such, but did not have its VAM number or die classification changed on revision, so it is overlooked at times as a slanted date can...

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM ID
No, none of the 1900-O/CC varieties have high 'O' mint marks as the word 'high' applies to mint marks. They are all in normal position, set a little right or left depending on variety. The nomenclature 'high' or 'low' in the listing refers to the position of the 'CC' on the 'O' for them. It's a litt...

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM ID
Hard to tell exactly from the photos. But with the date and mint mark position along with the die crack forming in UNITED, I would say VAM 11.

Wow, Brian that would be amazing to see and probably the top pop, if what we have been discussing here is true. Any chance you could post a picture of it for all to see?

Re: FOUND! 1900-O VAM 29
Thanks Brady, for the additional pictures and the Leroy text. It goes right along with the explanation of EDS and LDS coins that was posted years ago by Logan McKechnie on the 1900-O VAM-29 page, so I think I'll repost them there too.

Re: FOUND! 1900-O VAM 29
Yes, the VAM-29A is almost always found in low grades which means this die pair must have been circulated extensively. That's why I was looking at cull and low grade items for a likely candidate. No one knows how many or which dollars were melted during the Pitman act, but its a safe bet to assume t...

FOUND! 1900-O VAM 29
I've been looking for this VAM 29 that had no die crack on it for over ten years. OK, its ugly, has the expected low grade and is covered with grime but an acetone bath will clean that up a little soon. When I first saw the photos of it, it had the prerequisite date position and mint mark but I coul...

Wow another "privately made". Great work Dan. How large can this conspiracy actually be?

Re: OT Administrators, computer pbms
Just so Kurt will know, I did receive his PM and I replied to it. Kurt, see if it worked OK.
One thing I have seen is that the PM recipient must open the PM in order for it to move from your outbox to the sent folder. I think that's a feature in the software so you'll know if the PM was read or not.

Be aware, there are three separate logons required when using this wiki entirely. 1) VAMworld discussion forums. That is what you are reading now. Logon required to post and send PMs. Since you are posting you are logged on. I can't imaging why PMs aren't working for you. They work for me. Clear you...

Re: 1900-O help, please.
The coin looks genuine to me. Check VAM 2C for a diagonal gouge line inside the R loop in Pluribus. The 2C is actually a slanted date but Leroy decided to keep the 2C designation when he revised it. The 2C also has a die break in AM in America. Hard to tell from your photo if its the same.

Thanks Deborah, for your persistence in getting your coin attributed correctly. Yes, please upload your letter from Leroy Van Allen here and I will link it and this thread to the VAM 31 1879-O page. I will also post your pictures to the page. This site is a wiki collaboration after all and more info...

Re: Need some help with 1900 O Near Slanted Date
I think you do have a VAM 53. The date position and open 9 match. If the mintmark hadn't taken a hit between 8 and 12 oclock, it would be a match too. I don't think you have a VAM 47 as I cannot see the same wing-neck polishing lines on your coin. The area behind the arrow feathers is not listed as ...
