Re: estate sale an old holder 1881-S

Please show the entire holder or pouch or whatever is involved, including the coin. That's the only way we're going to know which company graded the coin and start to look up approximately how long ago.

Great 'pick!
The SSDC Value Guide estimates a 63 at $1,500, with no higher grades listed.

Re: can an AU55 coin be PROOF LIKE

@morganman that was a vam 4 eds ngc62dmpl, and i helped get it from logan to ash. and as been said, pl or dmpl is separate from grade. pl and dmpl has to do with reflectivity. How very interesting. Logan cherried that coin at the November 2006 Santa Clara show. I was there on just the 16th and carr...

Re: CAC stickered coins

PCGS does not accept regrade submissions that have a minimum acceptable grade higher than the current grade. In-holder regrades do sometimes work, but they are an expensive gamble: – postage to get the coin(s) there – $10 handling fee per order – minimum $23 per coin grading fee – minimum $22 per or...

Re: Rotation

Slight rotations such as you have are fairly common throughout the Morgan series, and are not enough to bring a value premium – although some sellers try by hyping them up to be more special than they really are. Even coins with big rotations (45 degrees or more) don't get a VAM designation for that...

Another mystery 1921-D

Once again, the scribbles and die crack break guides were of no help. Does this look familiar to anyone?

Re: What is the correct term?

The term I first heard about 25 years ago was "orange peel". I was told it's fairly common on 1901-Ps and I've seen it many times since on that date.

Re: Anyone know anything about Jeff Oxman

I talk to Jeff 2-3 times a year; it's about time for another call. He and his wife built a second home in the local mountains a few years ago and had been spending quite a bit of time there even before Covid hit. I know they were laying very low during that whole period. Every time I talk to him he ...

Re: ANACS grades in

Ah, I understand now. As far as buying Ds goes, I never bought them in any grade before this little project, other than the odd Unicorn and TRU_T cherrypick. I didn't collect them by VAM before, so I have no way to compare what I'm finding now. I do get the sense that almost no seller pays any atten...

Thanks, Dennis Would I be safe to speculate (on the Bay) that you will continue your efforts involving those very few 'JOH' s that do remain? ( pronounced JOE) Yes... if I can get my hands on identifiable examples. With decent, clear photos of scribbles and meaningful PUPs I can make a strong new V...
